To clarify what you need to do...
in PlayOnLinux, click once on the Path of Exile shortcut, then click the Configure button.
Click over to the Miscellaneous tab, then click the button that says "Open a shell".
When that shell opens, type winetricks -q vcrun2010 d3dx9_36 riched20 and press enter.
It should install stuff within your prefix for Path of Exile. Then try and launch again.
ok thanks its checking for resources :)

naa. I don't get pissed off by helping people unless they ask for help but are unwilling to listen or experiment on their own. It was hard to get you up and running, but you were not hard to work with as you were willing to give everything suggested a shot. I really hope it works out for you, and you learned a little bit more about your Linux system and PlayOnLinux.

you can edit the production_Config.ini file... it should be in your home directory in a folder called My Games\Path of Exile I think. find the line that says "texture_quality" and make sure it is at least 1 possibly even 2 or 3 depending on what you can stand.
Also go into the Graphics options and disable shadows, post processing, and turn everything down to lowest settings. You can turn them up as desired based on your performance, but I"d start with the lowest settings and work your way up from there.
Good luck!

make sure the texture quality in the ini file is set to at least 2 or 3. The game won't say anything less than medium... but you'll notice a difference as you get to 4 or 5.
