How to enjoy and not endure Path of Exile in 10 steps

My apology, was reading another thread while trying to reply here, and I read yours "improve your character and your build".

Nevertheless, saying something that would improve your character or build up your wealth happens many times over an hour... Sure, maybe those 1 Alchemy leveling items that you have nowhere to sell at, chat is useless and setting them to a shop, putting buyouts and then do the trade for a 1 Alchemy is actually a process of lowering your wealth.

I have no problems building wealth in this game each hour whether it is through farming City of Sarn or running Dominus.

If you are rolling maps then your wealth is going to either decline or stay level...

That's my experience anyhow.
Folks should just quit games if they cant afford the time.

Guess they should, and they should also quit playing football on weekends if they can't dedicate themselves to pursuing a career in it.

Just imagine the gall, all those... amateurs, huffing and puffing around, irresponsible and immature.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Getting to end game content and sustaining yourself there shouldn't require you to play the game like it's a career. This is a cardinal sin in game design and everyone knows it, which is why virtually every game (including even 'hardcore' games like the Demon/Dark Souls Series) avoid trying to waste your time unless it is absolutely integral to the game. Path of Exile blatantly puts multiple walls of RNG to waste your time in order to make it more 'hardcre'.

cos you know,
otherwise those "hardcore"/wealth accumulators players will scream about how easy the game has become when 6links, shavs/kaoms etc. and gambling orbs like exalt/eternal become more readily available

and tell noobies to go play D3 instead if they want better drops

Agree with what you said.

im not sure what kind of endgame you are referring to but i understand that some contents are supposed to be hard to access. Also,Poe doesn't favor no-life/ "hardcorer". Its just that no-life/ "hardcorer" has too much time to lose. Common folks should be happy that they have more important stuff to do in real life.

Most people are already enjoying PoE, they don't need a guide. They are busy playing the game and not whining in the forums.

Wow......really?

-Disclaimer, I do a very poor job of organizing my thoughts on longer posts so bear with me.

I thought the idea of the premise for Invasion league sounded pretty cool but I didn't get my taste of it until the charity race. What a difference.
The normal level process in PoE is one of absolute tedium. It is unchallenging, uninteresting, and after playing through once or twice it just puts you to sleep. You generally just go on autopilot and stream roll the entire game without any fear of anything. There are some exceptions at the start of new leagues with nothing but even with that, it isn't really going to challenge anyone who has any prior experience playing the game.
So outside of a few difficulty spikes(Act 3.5), it is rather dull. What a difference the Invasion mechanics make though. The invading monsters and especially the invading bosses really made leveling actually exciting again. Suddenly you have to actually pay a little more attention to what you are doing or you are going to RIP hard. Some of those ambushing monster types can really get you early on, and the bosses only get more insane as you go.
I know I read somewhere they are keeping invading monsters but at a much lesser spawn rate(A mistake I feel, there should always be some) and nixing the invading bosses. They are instead going to be relegating them to zones that had no unique boss. Once again, this feels like a mistake. You are basically returning to making the game entirely predictable.
The more predictable this game is, the more mundane it becomes and the more of a chore a large chunk of the game is prior to getting to maps.(Which can also become mundane but that is another post entirely.)

I really think they should rethink those decisions and keep the bosses in as they are. If you are worried about annihilating new players, find a way track it in an account fashion. Has the person beat merciless on their account before? If so, unleash the invasions! Or have it be an option from the start, anything really.
The idea being, the more unpredictable the game becomes, less of a chore it is to replay it. I think they should push for more mechanics like this in the future.

Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?

Shouldn't you be "playing the game and not whining in the forums"?

" Now it's more like a constant chore and more work trying to continue playing as it once was instead of accepting the hard reality that the game now is."

I think any game that needs to have a "how to enjoy..." thread needs to be doing something better if they want long-term success. Or perhaps, sort of like the OP suggests, GGG can just reduce their own expectations of success.

Op is right.

Despite his post being a subtil attempt at passing his frustration about these issues,
if taken LTTERALLY, every one of his posts are RIGHT.

When I play, I do every single one of his points. (except 6, which I do for fun only) Thats how I play. And everything he says is true.
Basically, dont expect too much and you wont be dissapointed.
Adapt to these facts, and enjoy what is there.

For example, there is no way to get godly items in this game (the drops are always unrewarding, the drop rates of currency are too low to ever be able to buy one, and the crafting randomness makes it impossible) so I dont try, nor expect, to have one. I just use the best of what falls, and when I get a crapload of smaller currency (like a hudred alterations, a dozen alchemy, or a few chaos) I will try to craft a good peice of BLUE gear (with alterations) or buy a useful gem necessary for my build (with a few alch or chaos)

I've learned fast that expecting anything good from the crafting or the drops in this game is conterproductive. Its just a HUGE waste of your time. Might as well just have fun instead.

There's truly a message in the music here. I honestly wish we players and honest citizen exiles would get some direct feedback from GGG concerning any changes POSSIBLY being made to address the many issues that people have with the game. It's almost heartbreaking that such an excellent game is not living up to it's full potential. I'm make sure to keep an eye out for some glimmer of hope to come through.
