Puncture vs Frenzy

If you have your attacks that you want to use gemmed into your weapons, they will automatically switch to the correct skills on switch (once set up).

does it say that anywhere?

Mouse over the gem. It says physical. :)

Edit: So the short answer to Windripper vs. Lioneye's is it depends on if the boss is static or moves a lot. Moving bosses bleed themselves out with the physical damage from Lioneye's. Static bosses die faster from the shock stacked poison and fire.

Well I gave the PB Puncture trap a try last night, and it took some getting sued to, but it helped me immensely against some exiles and vaal bosses. I'm going to continue using it on my LA/Frenzy ranger as long as I can find a spare bow to keep up with my main DPS bow. Some comments about it:

-You must wait until the trap detonates on a monster before swapping the weapon/gem out, otherwise the trap gets destroyed
-Weapon swapping is almost instant. So if you are wanting to try this without the boost of PB and Trap (especially if you are crit based), just put Puncture+Crit+Proj Phys into your weapon swap. You should barely notice the interruption in your stream of arrows (not sure if you can hold down an attack button down and weapon swap at the same time)
-If the you're swapping out your single target skill with the puncture trap swap, it's best that you don't put it on your LMB since you don't move with a trap on that button, rather you stand still and throw a trap, or stand there waiting for the cooldown. This shouldn't be a problem if you're not using trap. In that sense, it's might be better if you put your AOE in your main bow, and single target in your armor, so that when you swap you can have both your puncture and your single target to use on the rare/boss.

The reason I tried all of this was because my BM Frenzy did not deal enough damage to justify its cost vs single targets, and because I believe every shot of Puncture beyond once every 5 seconds is wasted DPS (especially after a Puncture crit) since you're just refreshing the debuff time.
