Does anybody know why he uses Life steal on his AoE power siphon? Life on Hit is usually better for AoE... I remember nugiyen said it was actually OP
not sure if this is a mistake or what IGN: fSoul

wow i switched from life leech gem to life on hit and i immediately see my tankiness rose up
i can now face tank those bears at docks just like my LA ranger with life on hit fucking using life leech gem probably cost me about 3 levels worth of exp -.- |

" Less mana to use life leech I believe..... |

" Using life leech most definitely did not cost you 3 levels worth of xp, not playing carefully enough did. :P ----- On a related note, I think the reason he initially chose Life Leech over Life Gained on Hit, was the increased mana multiplier. If I recall correctly, his main concern back when he was planning the build for Open Beta, was mana management, because of the nerf to Clarity (and possibly other things I forgot about). Another thing to consider is the fact that he's got a very high quality Life Leech, which increases the rate of which you heal with Life Leech. If I go from Life Leech to Life Gained on Hit, the mana cost increases to 143 mana per cast, which is actually less than I thought it would. From what I can tell I'm able to spam it fairly consistently, even with only 209 unreserved mana. I do regen about 182 mana per second though, since I equipped my new wand. :P I'm gonna have to try it out and compare, I doubt it would make a lot of difference to me at this point though, as I haven't died in ages. |

sorry, this is my first build and I dont really know what to do other than follow the guide.
why are people using discipline? it adds energy shield, which is converted to mana but the mana reserved is more than the mana bonus... isnt this skill redundant? edit: I forgot to mention, I am using eldritch battery as the build says to. ign: supersmuggy Last edited by agureghian#3380 on Feb 17, 2013, 10:46:03 PM

" The discipline aura, after calculating the mana gained vs the mana reserved, basically pays for its utility and its spot. You can bring an additional aura for much less than the cost of other very useful ones. Additionally, from the PoE wiki: " I might be mistaken, but I imagine the added max mana from ES>Eldritch scales the Mana Regeneration stat by a noticeable amount, further justifying mandatorily including the aura. |

" The guide states +life is; I'd argue to focus on EHP (effective hit points), calculated by roughly estimating the point value of each hit point in regards to incoming damage after mitigation math. After EHP is regarded, Mana concerns for auras and being able to use Power Siphon come second. Thirdly, +Ele mods such as hard X-Y Z Damage along with scalar effects such as Global Crit and +Ele dmg (someone correct me if this part is incorrect) all should be stacked in balancing amounts. :EDIT: Also, you take certainly a large amount of +life% as passive point nodes on your skill tree. That in mind, focus on +Armor gear, some ES for mana issues as requisite, and aim for +life as the primary item modifier as well. I might argue that +armor/EleRes is quite good for this build as well. :EDIT END: Too much hard +ele dmg without any crit or +% dmg would be as bad as only stacking crit and +% dmg. Visualize this: Teeter totter of EHP: Life ......^------ Armor/EleRes Ability to spam PS as necessary [=============*=============] Mana, Regen Teeter totter of DPS: +Ele Dmg ......^------ +Crit, +Ele % Try to balance the sides and account for spell cost. Becoming imbalanced on a side hurts the overall effectiveness of your gear, and stacking not enough or too much mana / mana regen makes your DPS ineffective or lacking. Hope you're on your way to a better gearing approach! Last edited by luenix#6231 on Feb 17, 2013, 11:13:32 PM

" The ES gain from Discipline is buffed by your energy shield % talents, Inner Force and % mana increase talents (through Eldritch Battery). On top of that you reduce the mana reserved with the Reduced Mana support gem. All of these things combined makes you gain more mana than you reserve. Additionally as mentioned by the poster before me, using discipline increases your maximum mana pool, which increases your base mana regeneration. |
