" As I understand it modifiers on items and auras won't make Elemental Hit use that type of elemental damage along with whatever it randomly chooses to use, it will only increase the elemental damage when Elemental Hit randomly chooses that element. Taken from the Path of Exile Wiki:

Elemental Damage
Each of the three damage types is increased by "weapon elemental damage" and "elemental damage" passives and item mods. Additionally, fire, cold or lightning damage passives and mods will boost the damage of only that respective type. Random Damage Type One and only one of the listed elemental damage types will be applied per attack. There is no way to influence which type is chosen. " I honestly doubt that this is how it works, I'm sure elemental hit works just like every other attack when it comes to elemental damage from items and auras. The way I understand it, it just means that you have no way of influencing the type of the randomly chosen element, that is put on top of everything else. I believe he has even said in the past that Elemental Hit may indeed be superior to Power Siphon, but he wanted to make a build around Power Siphon. Other than that I could see it being a hassle keeping up the power charges without using Power Siphon constantly. He has been talking about a build using Elemental Hit and Voll's Protector (Unique armor) lately, maybe we'll see that sometime? :P |

well i deleted my witch and started again because of some moronic frustrations i had with her
i got to about 5500 damage with elemental hit and only 6 power charges, no quality gems being used and none of the shadow's skills but i did compare power siphon to elemental hit by simply whacking a monster with both supported by the same gems and from what i could SEE elemental hit was doing more damage, then again the more elemental damage you have from other items the better power siphon is as it does have a damage bonus, it's very easy to calculate which does more damage but i'm too lazy :P (sorry that's dumb but true) but... i'd imagine elemental hit wins otherwise what the hell isn't it doing in this game if it can't beat lvl 5 power siphon ? :) Last edited by 1235#4407 on Feb 11, 2013, 8:21:43 AM

personally seem to have hit a wall with this build, not sure what im doing wrong lol
ive followed the guide all the way through and am now lvl 66, but my dps is soooo much lower than everyone else and i dont know why. where does dps come from with this build? 1-xx fire light cold dmg on items? does % ele dmg work? how can i increase dps quickly? i even respecd some points from life and put into power charges and crit on passive board, which gave some increase in dps but not alot. right now my single target is 1379 dps (thats with 0 power charges) im not seeing where 10k is coming from :P. |

" Most of the dps comes from fire lightning and cold damage on items, the fastest way to improve your dps would be to get a few upgrades with massive lightning rolls on them. Another thing to keep in mind is accuracy, because this build has fairly low dex and pretty much no accuracy nodes you need some accuracy on gear. A good piece to get accuracy on is your helmet, as you can roll ~300 accuracy on there. Yes % elemental damage on items work, end game you basically need it on your belt. I'm currently level 74 in below average gear and I do 3.3k single target with just auras up, but with 7 power charges it almost doubles to 6k. Basically, you just need more gear with high + elemental damage rolls on them. (Rings, Gloves, Wand, Necklace) Just don't forget to get life as well, it's not all about damage. :) |

I know both could be better, I didnt do the bandits correctly, I killed them all 3 times. DPS without my 5 power charges is 5625 single target, 1376 aoe. DPS with 5 charges is 8700 and 1762 respectively. I run haste/determination/anger/wrath/clarity/disc. As you can see from my gem setup, I use LMP instead of GMP because it allows me to run haste + determination and mana cost is 93 instead of 123. LMP also has higher dmge for aoe. I tried GMP but I noticed mobs die at relative same speed but LMP allows me to spam more before being OOM. Personal preference I guess. I found out that raw elemental damage is so much better than % elemental damage when it comes to gear, hence I aimed for raw elemental damage. Do not underestimate the DPS gain from +level to lightning in the wand that you gain from having an extra point in wrath. I do not have conduit because I play with an ele ranger who has resolute techniques, but I will get conduit upon hitting level 85 as I need one more point to get 6 power charges. I use a curse setup of elemental weakness/enfeeble. Enfeeble really helps in maps because the damage migitation against some crazy affixes. If you have any questions or tips/constructive criticisms let me know. This is my first character and anything to improve her would be greatly appreciated. The damage growth on this build is exponential. All the way to level 40 you mostly just get HP nodes and then some mana and mana regen nodes. I'm not on HC so I decided to start taking more offensive nodes around level 46 (Static Blows, Extra Wand dmg from Charges, more Charges) and basically my damage went up from around 600single/150aoe to 1500single/350aoe in the span of 8 levels.
Now each offensive upgrade or aura level up means even more damage. At level 54 I can farm most of Act 1 Merciless even though I have 0% resists and only 1600 life without life leech (Can't afford a 5L armor yet) just because spell totem + skeletons tank for me and my DPS is enough to destroy everything. |

how do you respec the 4 points out of the early melee damage nodes? Won't let me take them out

Make sure you connect the path starting from the 40% mana regeneration node to the part where you have to respec the 4 points.
My main issue now at level 58 is that it's impossible to get a 5L armor for a decent price... And running without Life Leech becomes difficult in Merciless. Very viable build once you get the right gear though... :) |
