Hardcore League: Templar GOD Build

Currently in my mid 40's running this build on Anarchy using Infernal Blow + Melee Splash as my crowd dps with Heavy Strike for single target. It's just slightly better than Glacial Hammer right now, probably due to a lack of support gems. I don't see the appeal of Lightning Strike as it doesn't seem to compare to the damage of Infernal Blow + Melee Splash (particularly with the extremely satisfying chain reaction of explosions), but I keep leveling LS in case it becomes more viable late-game.

Here's my late-game plan. I'm making a b-line for the Duelist tree for Leather and Chain because this -14% movement speed is ridiculous. I'm sacrificing some survivability along the way since Anarchy isn't a HC league.

im trying this as a newbie (just started two days ago) hopefully someone can point out any clear reasons why this might be an outdated build before i screw it up.

I do like the idea of blood magic though , alot, that part is still viable right?
Hi, all.

I am playing this build in Anarchy league now and I reached lvl 49 yesterday in merc A1.
I soloed all the way smoothly with some luck to find a multistrike gem linking to lightning strike, and I am lucky enough to get a good 1H mace through trade. At the moment I have around 2000dps on LS and 1700 on glacial hammer, imo it is good in at least A1 merc.

Now my problem is the armour; I tried my best to cap all resistance which results in a low armour of around 700 (about 20% damage reduction). I was killed several times in the merc A1 cave by Bone Roahs..(one granite flask does not help much..) I have 1540 hp now, its a bit low but I do have invested lots of life nodes, I also need to get more hp from gears. So I decide to go to cruel dock or merc ledge to do some farm, leveling myself to lvl 50s to use higher level gears and hoping to loot some high def, life offering gears.

I have not spec blood magic yet since I run only tempest shield; I still have around 200mana after reservation and a mana pot serves me well.

The reason I like this build is its strong survivability that I dont have to kite mobs until I get to A1 merc. Its feeling fantastic standing still and hitting the monsters in the face! I hope better gears could get me back to this situation in merc soon:)

Just to give some cnfidence to people who are trying this build, its amazing: )

P.S. I did not go exactly with the poster's tree, I spec out the ele nodes, get all the life nodes in marauder area, get more shield block and put some points in the mace physical dmg ring (12%+12%+24%). I am not sure it is right doing this though: )

5) Because this build uses Blood Magic, we must have as low Intelligence as possible. For example: I didn't choose Elementalist because I'd have 20 Intelligence in total. The 10% Damage buff is nothing compared on Physical Bonuses we get from Templar and Marauder side!

Why is it important to have low intelligence if you use blood magic node, if anyone can explain please.

So that you're using your passive points to the best potential, since Blood Magic (BM) deducts all your mana.

Can someone post an updated version of this build? Including a skill tree, their current gear, what gems to use, etc.

This Build is actually a bit outdated and i think Freshbrewed (the creator from this build will be happy to see so many begginers playing it too).
Believe me i started my first character with this build, Until you come across merciless dificulty you WONT DIE! (Desync excluded but thats not your own fault neither the builds fault).
In high end maps you will see only one problem called: chaos damage! ( Still if you get alot of chaos resistance you will seriously become godlike)

Secondly: In my opinion 15% Increased attack speed is an must who uses Lightning strike.
As you can see LS (lightning strike) is the Mainspell from this build it keeps you alive and let enemys fall one after another.

In my case i use many several spells in different situations lets say: i made my own Hardcore in Normal league. Lightning strike is not my mainspell im playing PURE PHYSICAL DAMAGE (always confront enemys face to face).
What you could do is to post your own skill tree here down and we all can see and talk about what to improve and if needed to remove.

If you need any informations feel free to contact me ingame on Anarchy league: Ilonea.

Few days ago someone asked me also how i got Such an "strong hard Glacial hammer". To be honest i dont know, still im trying to find it out. But i can show my Link (Its 7800 Damage):

Also agree on the 15% AS passive. That was a huge difference for me in Merc.

So when I started POE back right after OB, I ended up falling into this type of build (2H though). Never saw this thread, but this was sort of the idea I had in my head. LS for AOE, kept ground slam around for minimal use, and heavy strike + added lightning/fire for single target. I cleared normal and cruel and just had a few deaths (all from being a noob). I quit playing POE for some stupid reason back in the spring and just picked it back up a few weeks ago.

Going through Merc it was a huge step up in difficulty. I'm now into a3, at level 59 (yeah I cleared a1&a2 pretty quick) and having huge trouble. I came to the realization that I"m using and finding ground slam a lot better than LS for the stun lock-ing capabilities, range, and more hits (for LGOH). Seems like LS couldn't clear the mobs fast enough before I got surrounded. I could possibly use more +elem dmg nodes (or the shock nodes), but the more I play and play test, I'm thinking of going more physical with my templar. GS + HS using blood magic gems for those 2 skills, decent size mana pool for numerous auras (Determiniation, Haste, Grace; maybe wrath and/or anger with BM, Purity instead of haste if needed, Vitality with enough reduced mana passives + gems), increased AOE skills, Iron Reflexes, LGOH/LL on attacks, Warlord's Mark, Rejuvination totem, Enduring Cry for supports.

Can anyone tell me if it would be any useful to take the loose fire (and/or lightning and/or frost) resistances near diamond skin at the maurader tree?

Because i think if you would need any resistances when you're running short somewhere like if you're in act 3 and you need lightning resistance or fire resistances when running through the crematorium?

It's a thought but i'm not sure if it's worth it or not.
Hi! I've just started my templar and following this build.

As I'm pretty new to the game in general, I've tried to do as much reading as possible.

My main concern now is, with all the new templar builds and changes made with closed beta, is this build still viable or is it outdated?

I'm still early enough to change build but so far, this seems to be pretty solid.

but what happens for e.g., when I reach maps where people typically use Chaos Innoculation?

I've also seen that people view Lightning Strike as a crit skill; whereas this build has 0 crit - how does that measure up? My friend is doing a lightning strike + crit shadow and our builds are almost direct opposites yet both using the same skill. so it's quite interesting.

also, some people advise not to level clarity while others seem to max out clarity - not sure for this build which is better or should i not even bother with clarity since it's a pain trying to get enough int at this point.

TL;DR: is this still a good build or are there better, more efficient ones to consider?
Lightningstrike is pretty useless now.
