[v1.7] 39k+ DPS with INFERNAL BLOW, +239% life, +6.8% regen, +145% armor, TRIPLE curses + blinds!
L44 now, still pure steamrolling through Cruel act2.
Someone playing with me asked "what is that fiery explosion? It's like you brought a tactical nuke.", when I one shotted basically everything. I think the DPS on Infernal Blow is around 1.4k now, which does not apply the negative resistance from fire penetration nor flammability. Thing is - I have NO +increased attack speed, so the DPS comes spiky. :) I also noticed that quality on Infernal Blow, increases the AoE. One of the best quality stats I have seen on a gem! +20% from the quality skill +30% from increased AoE gem +20% from passives ...the AoE size is going to be rather sizable! The good thing here is, as resistances can be negative, so the 20% health explosion from Infernal Blow gets multiplied by all your elemental/fire damage nodes and then you get the multiplier via target's fire resistance. I've already seen a 20% HP explosion from same creature type deal near 50% damage with the AoE. And this is before I've actually invested a single point to fire damage specialization. At this point, I also dropped Clarity (I've roughly 500 mana, which is more than enough with two pots) - and running with discipline alone. I can't keep both of them, since my pool drops down to less than 100. Annoying to play with that small pool. 150 would be fine. :> Composer, sound designer, game designer, producer, gaming journalist, gamer. www.soundcloud.com/Artifex28 Last edited by nocebo#2432 on Jan 30, 2013, 9:04:25 PM

@ OP atm my templar is at Cruel Act 3 now, Pretty hard to die when I have enough mana to upkeep all my spells, curses and aura with Eldrich Battery.
Thinking of Whether to grab Whispers of doom or Resolute technique now.. I shudder to think what happens if I can stack flammability + elemental weakness together lol.. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgUABAcEswVbDH0NMBB_ErwUTRhdGYUaOBpsHwIkiySqKU8tHzKJNsU26T0PRtdMs03YV-JdxmBtbRl35Xy7ffWBb4IegpuDOITEh2WLjIx2kFWcLZ2Ana6ePKIApwinhLMxtPm4k8Hzxp7YJNrd2wvd8-Fz42rkIuw47SDwH_NxRHJMLRdQAP0UsDowOVK8N05tWAfE9iftrKpyqXzZ9zL460GqFHEGDmP9Ja0J9qcwns12536vdhGeoa-bA8b9CzQ4AycB_w48OlI26K-iEPAX3AaiOnGioxJpFxxxeRQg Probably my super late game build. With Enfeeble + EW/Flammability and Molten shield It should be pretty hard to die. Probably needs more Dexterity though to equip the end game rapiers/swords. I wonder if discharge would complement with infernal blow?
The passive skill tree would be something like this: Bandit quest at merciless can give +3 to frenzy, so theoretically 6 enduring cry + 6 frenzy for discharge. Engaging a large pack of mob I'd start with raising enduring cry, then blood rage. Charge in with infernal blow, once frenzy is up to 6, discharge. Finish of with infernal blow. Rinse and repeat. Discharge also replenishes frenzy if mobs are killed in the blast and blood rage is up. |

Thanks for the continuous updates, makes it a lot easier to plan my way through.
Didn't have much time last night, but did get started -- was wondering; when do you think you'll be picking up BM? I've never actually ran a BM build, and am clueless as to when that switch can actually be made. I find myself trying to avoid any int or mana regen nodes, but I guess I'll definitely need them (only to respec out of them afterward) before being stable enough for BM. Keep it coming with the updates, I find it really interesting to read your take on this build - which so far is a lot of fun. |

" Was just about to start playing. I was counting the points, and I think I will hit BM somewhere around lvl 60, if my calculations are correct. Without BM, one could use "mana reserve auras", which really aren't that effective with BM. But then again, it becomes rather impossible to play with even two auras (mana reserve + flat) or two flat, since your mana pool is that low. BM allows usage of flat auras (grace will be useless, with "cannot evade from the unstunnable -talent"), which means you can use discipline, anger and wrath. Also, you don't have to carry a mana flask with you. Your skills wont really hurt you, since you will regen like hell and the mana costs (life costs) are rather low. INT nodes are needed for both hybrid gear and the INT gems. It's enough that you dodge the dex ones. :) Composer, sound designer, game designer, producer, gaming journalist, gamer.

L48 now.
Going strong. Means I am running now with both Flammability and Elemental Weakness. In two levels, I will get the elemental equilibrium. Then it's time to get lava lash and head for blood magic. Currently running with discipline only, since the curses are quite mana costy. 150 mana pool (with clarity), isn't enough for a "burst cast" of everything (curses, molten shield, enduring cry). I have supported both the curses, rejuvination totem and enduring cry with improved AoE. Sadly, Improved Duration only effects skill, and Enduring Cry counts as a spell... " Yeah, I guess that should have been pretty obvious. I'm about 25 now - still trying to trade for a Geofri's Baptism, but so far not having much luck. The quality on Infernal Blow thing is kind of awesome - I'm just getting to the point now where I'm able to really wreak some havoc with infernal blow. Quite fun! L51 now. Got the elemental equlibrium.
There's one "nasty" thing about it. Since 2 handers are slow, and specifically since I don't have any +IAS yet, I sorta "slow myself" when going vs normal creeps. Since it takes time to cast lightning strike first "to tag them", and then infernal blow. I noticed that it's just easier to infernal blow them anyways, even though they gain the extra resistances vs fire then. Casting flammability is much faster. I mean, this isn't a real issue anyways, since it's not something that kills you - just slows a tiny bit. Other option is to rush through, gather creeps - curse them, then lightning and take a bigger pack at once. But, when you got vs elites/champions/bosses - the damage is off to roof. The -50% more fire resistance modifier is just nasty. It also gives more damage output vs targets that are CURSE IMMUNE and naturally fire resistant. Now I am starting to think that I should swap lightning strike to some quick cast spell instead, to tag them with lightning/cold element instead. Since my gear gives some cold damage too, lightning strike also increases their cold damage resistance, which isn't that good in a party. So now I need to go through the possible "fast cast" spells that would only deal cold or lightning. :) Composer, sound designer, game designer, producer, gaming journalist, gamer. www.soundcloud.com/Artifex28 Last edited by nocebo#2432 on Feb 1, 2013, 9:48:31 AM
