See below. As for the Witch tree, it depends entirely on your play style. Some people really like to go for Doom Cast, Instability, etc.

Yep. And then you do 20-40x the base damage, don't have mana issues and don't need to give up your ring slots for something expensive. Double win.

Sorry to interrupt, but it has twice the crit chance, it will obviously be vastly superior, just as any other weapon with a higher crit chance.

Basing a CoC build on a weapon with the lowest possible crit chance in the game is, to put it mildly, ineffective (I'm tempted to use a stronger word).

I would recommend that you look around in the forum for other CoC builds and threads where this is discussed and judge for yourself. Never follow a guide if you haven't compared it with other similar ones, since people try to present their guides in the best possible light and that is often very misleading.
