GGG did not market the vaal orb as a dangerous item-destroyer orb

Yes they did, even the mere description on the orb markets itself as such.

Hm i"m still trying to figure out how it did that much. From what I saw of the video it would do one thing. Reroll stats. in which case sockets and implicit woudl be untouch, change implicit, nothing else. Do nothing (ok sooo... orb just locked it) Make sockets white. doesn't mess with links, just colors.

The fact that some people are saying it's doing multiple things has me wondering are they really linking the same item before and after or they just move the microtransaction effect to something else?

For gems, in the video he did say it could decrease. that was jsut after talking about increasing max level, so guessing thats both quality and level. you could increase a 20 quality gem between 21-25 or you could probably end up decreasing it from 20 to 15-19 area, with it being locked unable to change. guessing level if max level is only up by 1, you also have the flip chance that max level may drop to 19. Of course it can always do nothing. Hm kind of wonder... can it change the gems white? being able to put the gem in any socket might be interesting, on the other hand that means no risk on the items and you can usually level another gem (easier to find) so guessing not. But honestly could be fun, gems could just change color, from blue gem could stay blue, change green, or red, or white. Or course even if gem color changes the stats you need at each level wouldn't (so added fire would still need the str requirement at 20 even if it turned green and not dex, just it would go into a green slot instead of a red one.

Is that co real? idk.

If that +1 is implicit mod then no, not real. He said in the video one thing, so white sockets or implicit mod change, would not have both.

And that part is stated word for word that you can't get both of those changes (and using Vaal orb once means you can't use a second one on the item)

didn't even divine, sup

Vaal orbs are basically useless on armor and weapons, simply because you can't use chromes after they're corrupted!

I don't know how many times I've had to change socket colors on rare items while leveling. Or better yet, what if someone gets something decent, and then wants to trade it off once they're done with it? This limits your buyer player base (i.e the buyer must need the exact colors on sockets).

Also, they can, and most likely will, unlink or lower the socket count.

You're stuck with wutcha get...pretty lame.

Use it on a really GOOD unique/rare item? Good luck to ya!

Basically the only feasible items to use them on are :

skill gems (gl if it's a 20/20!)
crap rare high lvl rings/amulets/belts maybe?
rare maps maybe?
/end list

So either be ready to QQ or go by this list. To me the damn things aren't a practical addition to the game due to the limited use. Otherwise it's roll of the dice to see who quits.

Tabula rasa comes already with 6 linked white sockets, so he just got the implicit...

That's a damn sweet implicit to roll on a tabula rasa...
