[1.3] Sidra's Necromancing Ranger of Chaos (Poison Arrow) Videos/Atziri capable
Nope - pretty close to 100% useless. You aren't attacking enemies, it generally makes more sense to shoot the ground. If you want to shoot stuff and leech, may wanna try another build.

I wasn't sure if the chaos damage it mentions would add to the cloud or not. Sounds like not.

Atziri's Promise converts a % of Physical and Elemental damage on your hit and converts it to chaos damage, while also giving you Chaos damage leech. This build relies on the Cloud Damage from poison arrow, not the on hit portion. Both functions are separate instances of damage having no impact on the other - much like Explosive Arrow.

" What weapon setup would you use for a trap trigger? Would you still use a bow for +gem levels? Also, is there a fire skill for bows that could work well to take advantage of all those DoT nodes against Chaos resist mobs? Explosive and Burning Arrow both seem to be based off of physical damage. (Zombies are icky.) Last edited by feyith#0081 on May 24, 2014, 3:51:13 AM

Trap is basically just swapping in a green gem, everything else would stay the same as the trap amplifies still how your Poison Arrow would do without the trap. So you build the same from a gear perspective. And it won't let you throw a Poison arrow Trap if you don't have a bow equipped.
And just got my hands on this: figuring out if I should incorporate it into this build - adds Chaos DPS with block and some armor at the cost of HP, and needing 15 more lightning resist somewhere else. If not - it will go great with my tanky LG Project. Build seems good; currently nearing a3n and not only have I not died, I've only been in danger once from Atziri's Pride.
As someone who's maining a GC witch, the massive boon of this is the fire and forget damage with convenient AoE location on a tiny cast time. You saturate a room with poison clouds and even if things go for you and not your minions, you can just outrun them and kite them through the poison. I do have one question, though. As someone else pointed out, you don't specify which bandit reward to go for. What would work best for the build, in your opinion? Last edited by WWMule#6048 on Jun 16, 2014, 11:18:20 AM

Yes - that is very true. The Minions are a huge part of the builds survivability during the game. I have seen a number of iterations of Poison Arrow builds - some good trappers, and someone has a very nice Scion Evasion/Acro based one as well. But I guess people don't like Minions very much. In my mind, they add so much to the build, and really synergize with the way Poison arrow does it's damage. Drop a Skelly Totem and sick a few zombies on a boss, and odds are it will be dead before it ever even targets you. And even when Zombies run out to meet enemies head on, it leaves the mobs stationary enough long enough that they never leave a single cloud. Eventually - those zombies even add enough dps that you will want to sick them on an rare chaos resistant mobs.
Anyway - glad someone other than me is enjoying them ^.^ I have been leveling this build a bit recently, as I have 3 goals that I want to complete before Ambush ends and I can move my Drillneck over to this toon: 1) 6L my bow 2) 21/20 Poison Arrow (I have 5 poison arrows leveling in off-slot all 18 or 19 now) 3) Get 92 (25% thru 91 now) The combination of 1 and 2, and with that 6th slot going to Pierce will literally add a few k to the build's damage output. Really looking forward to it. Many thanks for the quick feedback; Seems most people take the health in normal but just wanted to make sure.
And yeah, minions are mostly what's keeping my GC witch alive, providing a durable distraction and allowing me to get my first casts off and start freezing targets. I can understand why people dislike them tho, with being fairly fiddly, prone to pathing derps (running Offering solely for that is a tad excessive) and not having implicit taunt like, say, the temporary undead horde from WoW's Army of the Dead, can lead to various mobs leaking past and gnawing on your face; also needing corpses for the summon (Desecrate mediates that problem for this build, unfourtunately for a GC witch you don't have the dex to spare), and AoEs causing them to melt on mass. |

Sorry for the double post, but I've found a slight issue with the build.
How do you deal with totems? Allies Cannot Die in particular. They're immune to the chaos damage component of poison arrow and to the aoe as far as I've seen. Kite things out of its range, I guess? |

Allies cannot die totems are the most annoying things, and largest speedbumps for the build. If it is an extremely crowded one, you need to pull mobs away and kill then until it's thinned out some.
Once it's thinned out a bit, I make sure I have max zombies up, drop a skelly totem right beside the totem - and shoot the totem myself. This "targets" it making the zombies attack it and they drop it pretty quickly. My Phys Crit Split Arrow Ranger Guide: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/919885
