Hello!

I'm here to present by request my very new build to you guys. This build is focused on taryn's shiver. You will probably want to use Kaom's Heart with this, though its possible to get ~4K HP which is more than enough in the non hardcore leagues, I would not recommend this build in a hardcore league.

End game plan (~lvl90+)

Leveling guide
This build requires not that you have to pick the nodes I specc in this specific order, if you feel you need to get things in a different order, do it

Current level 88 build

Bandit Rewards

Normal - Help Oak for 40+ to maximum life, which will result in much higher with our %life nodes in tree.

Explanation why I chose just this gear
Spoiler

Taryn's Shiver Best staff for freezepulse. Gives us +to cold gems which is great as the most dps on freepulse comes from the gem itself. Also 8% chance to freeze and 18% block chance. You also get 20% dmg on enemies you've frozen, which will be pretty much always
Kaom's Heart Great HP-boost, though you lose sockets and cant run cwdt combination, not that its that important
Maligaros Critical strike chance and multiplier, which is great as we're a critbased character
Head The stats we want, resist and hp. Also great as it has some es which gives us more mana
Boots 3x resist with hp and movementspeed
Amulete Gives me hp, spelldamage and crit multiplier. And alot of strength, which is needed as I run kaoms(could switch amu and specc 30str node in tree)
Gifts from above Best ring for people uses crit
The Taming Gives us an additionally 5% chance to freeze/shock/ignite which is very important and also nice damage.
Belt Hp and resist, and some strength to let me use Kaom's

Calculating total dps
Spoiler
I have 12 000 tooltip with GMP(5 Projectiles)

Singletarget that would be 12*5=60 000
I always shock/freeze so lets count with Taryn's (20% increased damage) and the taming's 10% increased dmg vs frozen I got a 1.30 multiplier

3 Shockstacks is 190% the damage + 10% from the taming, with a total of 2.0 multiplier

I add those multiplier and get 2.3x damage

This gives 138 000damage effective damage

i.e
Let's say you have 5000 dps with gmp using a taryn's. That would be 25 000 if everyoen hit close range shotgun wise. You freeze everything before using cold snap which gives you 20% increased damage, which would be 30 000damage. You have with static blow+added lightning8quality 20) 30% chance to shock so versus a boss or so you'll easily get atleast 2 or even 3 stacks. Let's say 2, and each stack adds 30% more damage, with 2 stacks 60%. That would be 30*1.6 48 000effective damage vs enemies you freeze and shock stack.

I've had much help ingame calculate this accurate and asked many and this seems to be correct!

Conclussion
Spoiler

This build is not cheap
After some very high melee damage characters I felt like I did want to try make a strong caster, and freezing pulse always looked tempting. I'm glad I chose freezeing pulse as this is probably the most fun I've had with path of exile sofar. Though for this build to work as good as possible it easily gets expencive

Pros
*High dps
*Perma freeze
*Fast clearspeed
*Much fun promised
*Mobs resistance isnt a problem

Cons
*Not hardcore viable
*Elemental Reflect
*Can't run no regen maps, preferably not half regen
*Expensive to gear endgame

Thanks for the guide, great timing for me as I am now leveling a Templar with intent to do FP. I was intending to use Berek's Ring (Life leech if frozen, mana leech if shocked) as a way to avoid using leech gems. I'm also doing a very low end build so I don't expect to solo maps in the slightest. I have chosen Static Blows, and was thinking of trying to get the shock via a lightning spell and added Light damage gem attached to a totem. Any thoughts on that approach? I won't have the points to invest in +Totem skills or in +Light skills, so not sure if it'll work

I have a very tight budget so I can't really follow your gearing guide, although the skill tree you have is in the same overall direction of what I've been doing so far

Another Q: when leveling, I found early on that FP could not compare to melee skills as I was using some unique swords, daggers and axes I had found. So I found leveling with Spectral Throw and Double Strike was MUCH more powerful then FP. Did you level all the way using FP? I had a L36 wand that had +92% spell damage, and FP still stunk compared to using very cheap Shiversting and later Mightflay uniques.

Cheers

The totem idea could work but late game it might not be very sucessfull due to many people having high damnage which means you wont have time to cast your totem. Even in single play it might be faster to just link it to freezeing pulse itself. I'd say added lightning is one of the most valueable links to freezepulse as it adds alot of damage and gives it a high chance of shocking(30% minimum).

When I leveled I used cleave til I got to level 20. By then I got a flameblast + faster casting and did rush through normal in a very short ammount of time, could even use it at the start of cruel without any points invested to burn / fire damage. At level ~40 I did pick 2 sceptres up I found on the ground with eitehr spelldamage, spell crit / cast speed and did start using freezepulse with added lightning and gmp. Worked great and eventually I did add a lifeleech gem and used Voll's protector(can easily get one for free, or atleast 1 fusing) so I gained power charges on crit, which gave me higher crit chance and more damage and made leveling very easy and fast.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask! :)

uh man, you again
you should also tell that your items and skill gems cost a total of 250 exalted.
with less currency, you will only be able to reach 4600 HP (legacy kaom's) or not even 4K (no Kaom's Heart) in the lategame with no armor and no evasion, and no 6-l taryns shiver, so way less dps and no survivability.

Please add:
"Only for ultra-rich, And, Even then, Not HC viable"
somewhere in the introduction. (oh, you got that one part right, sorry. but you should add the other thing, too, so newer players don't waste a character on this build wondering why it doesn't work)

here is a link to my previous criticism:

Don't get me wrong. I think your build is great fun and flashy, and, with the right items, somewhat lategame viable. But your approach does have its downsides, and you should mention that.
You could also compare different skill gem setups, like added chaos, faster projectiles, GMP / LMP, which aura, which defensive stats (f. ex. Grace + Iron Reflexes VS. Arctic Armour) etc

From that previous build I had not yet fixed the tree and got now 80% more hp in tree( I havent taken it myself due to the kaom's heart but GET IT) so getting to ~4000HP should not be an issue. Also said it's an expencive build and is not recommended for new players.

To answer some of the criticism from your other thread:

Mana pots will help you with the mana loss, I know got 130mana/s and 103 mana cost with ~3 casts per second, using mana pots will easily counter this(2 is enough) and therefor isnt mana leech required in my opinion.

Cold penetration is not needed as I am using frostbite and due to high crit I almost 1shot 75% resistance mobs without cursing them. And I am not using haste myself ofcourse, only benefits from the aura when I am in a party with someone running it, as you said yourself there is many other & better choices than it!

I can get 3500hp without the 60% more life from the tree, so hitting 4k cant be hard, and I dont even have hp on gloves, any of the rings and low on my belt. The armour isnt a problem really as I got high reg + lifeleech so can get from 100hp to 5k+ in just a few seconds and I only get on low hp from either a very hugh pack or i.e vaal smash. I am permafreezing mobs with coldsnap(like what 100% chance to freeze now?) so its not often I dimp down and when I do its when I myself play very dumb and not thinking of what I am doing.

And ofcourse, as said THIS IS NOT A HARDCORE BUILD

I also agree with you I could state when I try different gem combination, though the 5 most important links are FP - Added Light - GMP - Life Leech - PCOC. After those 5 I tried both faster casting, cold penetration and faster projectiles and it did seem to be that faster casting was superior.

I find it to be a way too long path to IR and did therefor not run grace as evasionbuilds arent very effective unless you go pure evasion build(just my opinion). About AA its a great idea, I run a level 11, which isnt worth it. Someone could ofcourse do some version of this and get miore mana reg and be able to run a level 15+.

Blood Magic mod on the map.
Questions for you.

Don't you have mana problem?

Based on your gear and gem setup I think you cast FP at 0.25 cast speed yet mana per cast is so high.

How do you freeze bosses?

Without using cold snap, going toe to toe with high physical damage bosses considering no other mob around.

I still have a problem with evangelists which cast physical spell at long range. You might get stun locked at the point. How do you solve this?
