I use Grace + Discipline.

Grace = synergy with Iron Reflexes.
Iron reflexes = synergy with Unwavering Stance (mandatory for all CI builds)
Discipline = synergy with CI

I agree that CI is a LOT of points, but there are bonuses (i.e. complete immunity to viperstrike, complete immunity to poison arrow, complete immunity to jungle valley, and insane ES regen after not taking hits)
Sorry for noobish question, but where does this "bubble" around your character come from ? Is it an aura ?

Very nice guide, I might try it right now as a new character. But since I'm not wealthy, I'd like to know if this build is viable (including end-game) with regular, self-found gear ? Meaning no soul taker, no carcass, and so on... but still wanting to have a decent radius of effect and attack speed.

The bubble is the Discipline aura microtransaction.
This build works for any gear. You just scale down the map level, and gradually build up as you get stronger. You do NOT need carcass jack. Only in one of my videos do I use carcass jack.

Stats to aim for:
Attack speed = 8
ES/HP = 8k
Resists (maxed of course)
Armor = 8k
Tooltip damage of reave = 12k (that's the minimum for effective mapping)

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.
DAGGER IS THE BEST FOR PVE.

Here's why. All of the amazing Dagger crit nodes are right next to Chaos Inoc and Ghost Reaver. For PvE, you couldn't have picked a better class for this :)

not good. i took him down before, but there are many hard counters to this build. for example, brute force with gg crit gear.

to my credit, this build doesn't have a single overpowered gimmick aside from the knockback gem.

I have serious doubts about that.

First: CI is not "for any gear".
I would never even consider taking it without having some serious "+ES,+%ES, +resist" gear for every item slot. This sort of gear will not be lying on the floor, I cannot farm it, and buying it is super-expensive.

Second: Your "extreme AoE" passive tree looks like a good choice for a full respec (like recently), but not for levelling.
This circling all around the tree (Duelist-> Marauder->Templar->Witch->CI->Shadow, Duelist->Ranger) and only cherrypicking AoE nodes must be very unefficient and unrewarding during the levelling progress, to a point where I'd say it is only viable with some "facebreaker gear".
I would not want to level this character at all. I might want to play it at level 95, but I would not want to build it up from the start.
The other two passive trees look more manageable, but still I would not recommend this even for people with some wealth and game sense.

Third: Your build is extremly min-maxed and would not work for lesser gear.
How do I solve mana without Soultaker (unaffordable for 99% of players)?
How do I solve damage mitigation without gg mixed defense gear?
How do I get enough damage to seriously kill if I basically have to redirect every point you put into damage into life since I can't go CI selffound?
Even if I get CI gear, I'd most likely need more ES nodes than you. How do I get them?
How does this gem combination do enough damage without a gg mirrored wepaon?

Everything you do in your trees is just at the edge. If I remove a couple of points to solve one of these issues, this build will crash.


Don't get me wrong, I like what you are doing here. Your character looks interesting and fun, I love/admire your build and items, but I think it is misleading if you write stuff like "anyone can do this", "this works with any gear".

EDIT : I have another question : I don't understand very well the part concerning dual-weapon and its effect on speed, damage, crit and other modifiers, especially the part with non-reave weapons (like hammers). The specificity of Soul Reaper put aside (I understand its specific use), what are the main advantages of using dual-weapons vs. one-handed weapon + shield ?

Note : I'm playing PvM, softcore, self-found items mostly, on Standard league.

I'm still reading through all 17pages, but you say in the update that the sword physical is too good to pass up vs. critical path.

Do you still want Soul Taker, which is an axe or is there an "equally good" sword?

I didn't want to discourage new players from trying this build.
It definitely takes investment and planning to be sure. My very first introduction for this build is that it's a tactical build. But, 100% agreed with your assessment. Unfortunately, with the current way items are dropped and rolled, indeed it is not easy to get this kind of gear. With that said, EVERYONE is going HP. Chaos Inoc in beta was overpowered, but now, in forum trades, CI gear is trumped by HP gear. I know the low-life Shav Crown of Eyes build is popular, but that's like... the top 0.001% of CI gear. For this build, you don't need that tier. As for the weapon, I 100% agree that this is a very punishing build with narrow window of gearing options.

I have tried sword + shield, and shield is DEFINTELY great.
The dual wield gives marginal attack speed bonuses to this build. So, you can easily replace SoulTaker with Clarity aura and adjust some points to support the mana cost.
