Why we can´t use the Elemental Hit? From what I saw on wikipedia (http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Elemental_Hit) the damage is fixed by levels! The 50% reduction in attack influences the damage? the skill can be used without weapon...

To me the biggest appeal to this build is, when the explosion goes off, you are usually hitting a single target 3 times per attack when using LMP and some decent aim/maneuvering.

Especially when I can catch a boss in a doorway with my bear traps or surrounded by other baddies. I think elemental hit, even if you used pierce only hits each target 1 time.

EA also has some really strong base damage, and this entire build revolves around only needing 1 item, Quill Rain

This build is simply awesome for mid level gameplay, got me through half of cruel and all of merciless. Bosses can be a challenge, but its meant for fast, safe clearing, while you are still collecting gear for your end game build.

Just for the love of god, don't get tired/lazy and fail to notice those elemental reflect packs, you will 1 shot yourself if you fire a full volley into them.

Elemental Hit + WED + Cold to Fire (with Lava Lash passive - 30% fire weapon elemental damage) + Life leech is a good choice to fight against bosses? (you lose 50% of Quill Rain but recovers in WED and Lava lash, is that how it works?) - I still cant test my theory, anyone know for sure?

and how you can kill elemental reflect? with Totem? or bear trap? currently (lvl 38 last quest act 3 - kill piety) against single rares I´m just using Bear trap and poison...

Just got Quill Rain yesterday and would like to use it to full potential so i think i will try EA build. One question here is does elemental equilibrium work with EA? Let say you add some small portion of ice or lighting damage to your explosive arrow to apply -50% resist to fire the wait for the fuse to detonate?
Made some changes of my own.


Note: It is also 1 point less than the OP's end build, which can go into 1 of the 4(?) 8% hp nodes I removed, or it can go back into 22% totem hp, or the 4% aura radius... or the 5% elemental resist lol.

Really though I think this build achieves the same thing the OP wanted but more efficiently. It also allows your build to be more spread out and maybe take Iron Reflexes? Idk.

Overall, If you put the 1 point difference into one of the 8% nodes, the difference is:

- 18% or roughly 2 hp nodes.

- 4% aura

- 22% totem hp

- 10 strength

+ 10 dexterity

+ 1.5% hp regen

+ 10% elemental resistances

Hey i have a next question. Does a monster have a cap of arrows that can be on them? Cause it is no difference if i shoot 3 sec on them or 20 sec.

the cap of arrows on a single enemy is 5.

single target damage, bear traps are great, i use a bear trap with added fire damage support
i also use poison arrow with culling strike support, just dont spam poison arrow or your frame rate will drop off hard. single target damage requires a bit of kiting... although you can still do it with EA if you lure them to a wall/doorway and throw a trap or 2 to hold them there, forcing them to take 3x EA hits per shot

and dont forget to use curses for reducing fire resist... you can fire off your EA and then cast the curse just before they explode


elemental reflect just requires you to use bear trap and poison arrow and its usually enough to drop them fast... since bear trap is insane
