[1.0.2] One-Hand/Shield Lightning Strike Templar
" Each weapon set has its pros and cons - I briefly touched upon them in the intro post. I would say that for beginners, stick to the mace/shield builds - you're less likely to mess them up and they tend to show their effectiveness earlier on in the game (the STR/INT maces carries an elemental damage bonus by default, and mace damage nodes are both closer to home and has better percentage boosts). One reason I went sword, besides the attack speed, was also due to a lack of sword/shield LS templars floating around. " Thanks! Your resists and hp looks fine - keep in mind that two of the little shield nodes gives you +15% elemental resists aside from Diamond Skin and company, which are boss. Don't be discouraged by the limited amount of damage nodes you take - you'll need the health to survive later on, and you'll have your gears improve your DPS. Unwavering Stance will become more important in higher difficulties. Just an example off the top of my head - at docks, if you happen to get rushed by a pack of Voidbearers, you do not want them hitlocking you as you try to cast Enduring Cry. Eldritch Battery is certainly nice, but it might be too out of the way on the tree. Try linking your LS gem with Mana Leech (Shadow, Ranger and Duelist can grab one around the early parts of Act 2 in Cruel difficulty) and see if it solves your mana issues. Other than that, you can also try stacking mana regeneration too. I will test out blood magic once I get my equipment sorted out. xeroslash - One-Hand/Shield Lightning Strike Templar http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/75285 Last edited by shyftyx#6628 on Feb 7, 2013, 1:14:43 PM

hey shyftyx, I'm digging what I've read so far. I was wondering if you could go into how you progress through the tree as you level? I imagine resolute first?

" Yup, RT is first in line. I edited the first post with a brief progression. EDIT: I did some tweaking and did some modifications to the skill tree - I now have about 10 more base STR and a bit more percentage in health nodes, plus 2 Endurance Charge nodes and 1 less point than the previous Full Build. This is in exchange for the two Body and Soul circles. In retrospect, I felt the Body and Mind/armor and ES nodes were inefficient use of points and that better gear can compensate for them. As such, I have restarted my character once again since it's a hassle to respec this many points. Such is life, lol. xeroslash - One-Hand/Shield Lightning Strike Templar http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/75285 Last edited by shyftyx#6628 on Feb 7, 2013, 10:07:00 PM

Bump - updated first post with my current gears under the [Equipment] section. Keep in mind that the passive tree alone is only a small part of a bigger picture!
I also did a minor update of the lv70+ passive trees. Comments, critiques and questions are welcomed! xeroslash - One-Hand/Shield Lightning Strike Templar

Major revision on the first post!
After spending some time with 500 Strength and Iron Grip, I ultimately came to the conclusion that the points spend there could be better used on damage nodes. As such, I took a step back and shifted around a bunch of points, most notably those related to offense. I did not feel too great going into Duelist territory, but the sword nodes are pretty good there (weapon attack + attack speed as opposed to weapon attack + accuracy, in which accuracy is useless for our build). Here's a quick list of notable additions, aside from damage changes: - More block chance - More attack speed - More endurance charges - Elemental Adaptation (raises our elemental resistance cap to 80% apiece) Feel free to post questions and critiques! This is still a work in progress. xeroslash - One-Hand/Shield Lightning Strike Templar

Question,
In this build, why do you not get Inner Force - 18% - Buff Effect - 6% - Buff Effect - 6% |

Hey nice build so far.
I'm wondering if you would recommend to have rings or an amulet with + elemental damage? I was also wondering what you think about double strike. I got a quality gem for that and I think that it's similar if not better to heavy strike vs single targets. Cheers Last edited by Simonsworld#5008 on Feb 27, 2013, 7:42:48 AM

Ehm... How do you use a sword if you don't get any dex nodes in the passive tree?

Great build so far.
Just wondering: Which are the primal stats for the build? Is the build dueable with an Axe? (just got one, much better than my old mace) Last edited by Saethwir#3574 on Mar 2, 2013, 7:01:14 PM
