Evasion with Ondar's Guile is significantly better defense for our build than Iron Reflexes and the loss of our evasion. While neither helps with spells, evasion and ondars trumps armor by far.
Damage sources: Spells have physical and elemental damage. Projectile attacks have physical and elemental damage. Melee attacks have physical and elemental damage. Reflect has both physical and elemental damage and is a melee attack. Here is what armor does: Armor only negates a portion of their physical damage from the above sources. If I got 10k armor it would at the most negate up to about half the damage of a physical damage hit and not more than 850 (1/12 of your armor may be negated) damage. This is good but I already shoot up to 7k plus some endurance charges from my granite flask in the situations when I know high physical damage is incoming. Armor does nothing to spells except EK and nothing to really negate the dangerous type of damage which is cold and then lightning in that order. Fire is not usually a problem cause its so slow and doesn't shock or freeze which can lead to my death. Armor helps a little with physical reflect but not with elemental reflect. Here is what evasion with Ondar's does: Like armor it does nothing to spells. Not even spell projectiles. But! Evasion negates 95% of projectile attacks including their elemental damage!!! Evasion mitigates every other melee attack as well including their elemental portion because the hit never hits. That means it reduces physical and elemental damage from melee attacks by 50% over a series of hits. It doesn't reduce the magnitude and we can still be one shot by hard attacks buuuuut... Drumroll... Evasion also reduces crits to normal attacks so we are not easily crit. Half the projectile and melee attacks are evaded and another half of the crits that hit are reduced to non crits. This affects both the elemental and physical portion of the hit. Evasion also means we avoid a large chunk of our own reflect damage out right and a portion of our crits are reduced to normal hits. This makes evasion much much better to us for reflect. If you have come this far and play my build you know that the only thing that stops us is freeze and shocks and spell damage. Eveasion helps there more than armor. Of course I would use armor if I didn't have to lose my evasion. But I prefer evasion, because I can run grace. To go IR and armor I would also need to run grace and also determination, which uses two auras instead of one for evasion. All this is in regards to my build which is an es build. I think armor is awesome for life characters who can avoid elemental status effects because their high life reduces the duration or completely avoids the effects as elemental damage below the threshold. Armor would be much better in this situation. In an ES build where low max life means elemental damage not only damages but freezes and shocks characters for long periods, armor does not benefit as much as evasion which avoids many elemental effects outright. So for all es build evasion is better IMHO. ~~~Build - Flay's Flicker Finder - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733257~~~ ~~~Shop - Flay's Fantastic Flea Market - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/631082~~~ Last edited by Sblak#3093 on Jan 8, 2014, 4:36:37 PM

One thing I never liked about low life with blood rage and no ZO is the chaos degen without shavs revelation. Do you not notice the degen from blood rage or is there some way u deal with it?

" -The build in the OP uses Shavs Wrappings...so Chaos damage doesn't matter... |

The statement that chaos damage doesn't matter is mostly true. We use shavs and soak it up in our es and outleech it easily. But without ci chaos can hit us hard. When it comes from a spell or from a melee attack or degen.
What you asked is a specific question and I must say it can cause a small problem. We use blood rage and shavs and take damage from blood rage constantly which means I do not regen my es outside of leech until blood rage expires. The damage is minimal. Its based on 3.8% of our life, and with 850 life and no chaos resist that is about 51 chaos damage a second. Even 3k es soaks that up really easily. But if you aren't leeching you don't regen es at all. I typically never let my bloodnrage expire and recommend it on a q inc duration. So just keep leeching and attacking and you will never have a problem. If I really just have to shut off blood rage I press x and swap weapons and since it is in my weapon it turns off instantly. But I also lose 3 auras so I almost never do that. ~~~Build - Flay's Flicker Finder - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733257~~~ ~~~Shop - Flay's Fantastic Flea Market - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/631082~~~ Last edited by Sblak#3093 on Jan 8, 2014, 3:08:44 PM

I wonder why to go inc crit chance rather than power charge on critical. PCoC on lightning strike just kinda stops the flawless run.
And about blood rage, some guy above ment shavronne moonstone ring, not the chest. I have it and its like around 1.5k~ ES total and it sustains with blood rage. But i dont think a reason for sustaining blood rage since you almost dont have a idle time between combats, leeches fast enough. I was just curious about the dps calculation. Is it an offical formula for it? |

I go increased critical because while pcoc would let me endless flicker and keep up charges, that is really dangerous because of desync. Stopping and using LS let's the server catch up if you will. LS is a really good skill. Not just for the charges. It helps immensely with certain pack types that are risky to flicker into. With pcoc in my LS I have power charges full about 80% of the time as well as crit chance, and always have charges when I need them, e.g. the big packs and the bosses. All of this is moot though because I actually run iir in the 6th slot most of the time. Makes then mana cost lower and I like to mf. Crit chance is just for wowing big groups or helping friends with bosses.
Aah yeah Shavs ring. I forgot about it cause it doesn't exist in Domination. But yeah, blood rage is not a big problem either way. I like my ring more than Shav's ring anyway. Dps is officially the amount of damage you do per hit times the number of hits per second.in the pictures I hit for 14.08 hits per second and did about 32k per hit. So 32x14 is equal to my numbers; or a little lower for the aoe dps base damage. ~~~Build - Flay's Flicker Finder - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733257~~~ ~~~Shop - Flay's Fantastic Flea Market - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/631082~~~ Last edited by Sblak#3093 on Jan 15, 2014, 5:52:45 PM

I intend to to post videos of multiple run because the build description doesn't express the crazy high speed fun that makes me return to playing this build again and makes everyone that groups with me for the first time say "wtf! you cheat! that is so op/broken."
My only reason for not posting them is that I don't have a captures program installed. Does anyone have a recommended free program that would let me capture 1080p videos? I suppose I could do my own research, but recommendations are helpful. As far as mana goes I don't have any significant mana issues. I don't use the mana on kill nodes because they make me regen in a spikey manner that cancels my divination distillates. My goal is to slightly under regen from plain regen and leech so I can just flicker almost constantly while under the influence of the div distillate. In other words without divination I can only flicker and 10 times (actually hitting 30 times with multi). With it I can go about 15 times or 45 hits which is too long and leads to desynch sometimes. The way to make this work is to use iir gem most of the time for a cheaper flicker. Then I get mana on all my jewelry and I have the 3 increased max mana nodes by the aura nodes under the shadow. With my interest nodes I have about 890 mana. That much means higher regen and faster recovery of mana from leech. If I really want to run full dps and constantly flicker I would need to use rainbowstrides to push my mana over 1000. If you don't want to use divination distillate and son don't care if you refill completely the mana on kill nodes work for regular packs but begin to have problems on bosses where you can't rely on kills to refill. I guess the other option is just a big sanctified mana flask with charges on crit. It would always be full. But I prefer the bonuses from divination distillate and don't have another potion slot for anything else. ~~~Build - Flay's Flicker Finder - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733257~~~ ~~~Shop - Flay's Fantastic Flea Market - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/631082~~~ Last edited by Sblak#3093 on Jan 9, 2014, 5:30:39 PM

the amount of time needed to get shavronne is too much, and since shavronne is ESSENTIAL in this build, this build aint viable

I myself use Fraps, though that's better when bought. There are some other opinions in this thread:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/402524 How did you level up? Quite curious since I'm following your passives/skill gems, and it's quite difficult with that chaos damage due to blood rage, and no CI or Shavs. |
