Since there is talk about DPS lately, i would just like to mention something about DPS that people should keep in mind:
More dmg @low AS is better than less dmg @high AS for the same DPS rating.

That is because Armor mitigation, a big amount of dmg in one hit will bypass more Armor and take out more life than 2-3 less dmg hits in the same time.
That is why people are still arguing about the benefits of the Multistrike gem...

From personal experience, in a lvl71 map me and one Shadow took down a pack of blue monsters on our own (monsters had lots of HP because it was a full 6 members party). When the Shadow was furiously Dual-Striking a monster at an insane AS, it's life dropped steady but slowly. Me using HS would take big chunks of life out in every hit, and took out a single monster faster than the Shadow could.
Out of curiosity i asked him about his weapon/DPS and he was using two ~1.80 AS weapons, but we both did the same DPS (around 13K).

So it is a no-brainer that I should be using

purely based on DPS, right?
2nd is better as it has higher pdps
It's hard to remember what you have forgotten

Why are police looking for missing people? None of them were missing last time I saw them
Is it worth it for me to try and get a 5L on it or should I save for something I can use end-game?

Thanks!

Well first Mace is 303phys DPS or 351 total and the second is 334phys DPS.
Due to all that phys dmg giving tree nodes and gem scaling, only the phys dmg of the first mace will be multiplied greatly (the cold dmg will not), so the second Mace will deal more dmg and at more AS.

So the second Mace it is ;)

------------------------------------

Just to be clear, the "high-dmg/low-AS > low-dmg/high-AS" is true for the same total DPS (or close to same). Maybe 9K high-dmg is better than 9.5K high-AS, but 14K DPS will always be better than 10K DPS ;)
That is why most people use MultiStrike, there is no phys-dmg-giving support gem that can deliver the same DPS raise.

If you do the math, you will see that to get the same DPS gain you get from a "+12% AS", you would need a "+50% phys dmg". There is no +50% phys dmg in one node, and that is why high-AS nodes are so good: significant DPS raise in one node ;)

Awesome, thank you so much for your help. I know it is probably a simple mistake but I forgot to just compare the phys DPS.

Thanks again!

Your life and dps seems quite low. Look for a better weapon and more +life armor. Get all of the life nodes asap. Get unwavering stance. Get the first resist nodes unless you have maxed resists and respec them when you do.

Skip armor nodes until you're like 70 and actually have the base armor for it to be useful.

Today i didn't play at all, just made a few gem tests that i should have dove much earlier (but i am plain stupid), but since i ended up changing the socket colors on my Mace and changing a support gem i thought i post the results:

I did a simple test (hence the stupid, i could have done this at lvl10) and linked one support gem at a time to GroundSlam, so i can see which ones give the more dmg/DPS.

With Hatred Aura:
Only lvl19 GS on Marohi (base): 2318 DPS
with lvl16 ConcEffect: 3825
With lvl19 MeleePhysDmg: 3431
with lvl18 MultiStrike: 3414
with lvl19 FasterAttacks: 3167
with lvl19 AddFireDmg: 2970

I also made some 3-4 gem combinations but i won't post all this crap here. Just know that MelPhyDmg gives always a bit more DPS than MultiS: in link GS+ConcEffect+FasterA (5225) adding Melee gives 7736 but MultiS instead gives 7660. And dmg>AS so this should be the first support gem to use in any link (ConcEffect messes up with the range so i don't count that).

So now i replaced the green socket on my Marohi with one more red and used MelPhyDmg instead of FasterA and i got from 7660 to 8323 DPS :)
*if i replace BM gem with (the worst but one other red gem) AddFire i get to 10.7K

Also tried some Attack Speed gloves, that get's me to around 8.9 - 9K.
*gloves also benefit HeavyStrike DPS ofc

Mind sharing your math? Cause I arrive at a different conclusion with mine.

Hmmm. I am running 5L with GS-> Faster attack -> concentrate attack -> added fire -> melee physical and get around the same as if I swapped faster attacks for blood magic and hatred (around 8k), so it doesn't seem worth it.

I get another 2k damage (20%) with my heavy strike. But I still don't think it's worth it. I'll have to recheck when I get a Marohi.
