1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

Hi all, as I am just a casual player so not much playing time for me.

I just recently finished normal (lvl 40)and at first cruel seemed ok.
But then I got to clear fetid pool. Those rhinos take in 1-2 hits. I know my equipment is as bad as it can be

Spoiler

but i dont wanna spend any of orbs to buy something.

My question is where should i farm for better stuff? get back to normal? or is there any other options?

Thanks !
Go to ledge (Cruel) , just skip fetid for now. Or you could just step aside when the rhoa's charge you..

Same here at first. These carcass things hit hard as a rock and the Necromancer owned me the first time. My equip sucks too. Haven't found something good in ages and the weapon I transformed into a rare turned out to be crap too.
But since I'm not a friend of skipping something I went back there and played smarter, especially used the totem way more often. I did cast it before I moved forward so instead of me they charged to the totem. And at the Necromancer fight the key was to cast a new totem before they destroyed the old one.

On a sidenote, I'm 41 now and still didn't get the Heavy Strike gem? Maybe I overlooked it before I found this guide and now I can't get it anymore?
On a sidenote 2, am I the only one who hates Enduring Cry? I know it's powerful but keeping it up is a pain in the a**. And even building up charges sometimes almost costs me my life?!

U need at least 40 life on every armor piece, thats number 1 stat for any melee char. Just because you are wearing rare items doesn't mean they are good. For example magic helm with 60 life + 20 res would be much better than ur current one. You don't need to trade with anyone yet. Just use transmutation+augmentation orbs on normal items, and reroll with alters if u don't get desired stats. U are lvl 40 u should have at least 1-1.5k life by now.

Fetid pool is high lvl area so just get back there once u are done with act1.

Awesome guide Arab.. Loving every bit of my hulk smash marauder!
Now you said theres an update coming, when is the ETA on that?
Would love some endgame suggestions :)

Thanks for this build. When I first started PoE, I had grand hopes of some wacky, unique build, but this gives me a strong foundation for a "main", reliable character that can finance my crazier ideas. Also, smashing stuff is pretty fun.
Hey guys,

I followed this thread as a guideline for my marauder. I had some other toons in merciless but got annoyed how quickly they would die and wanted something more casual to play

I ended up switching out all of the endurance charge nodes for base armor % nodes. I am personally too lazy to kite mobs while i warcry 5 times every fight.

I just hit 70 and here is where I'm @

The next 2 levels I will be taking the Butchery node (18% physc dmg by marauder start) and Versatility (+20 dex and +20 Int)

Focused on gear with high HP, Elemental Resist and Armor. It is very possible to have 50% dmg reduction and 80% all res by level 65 which works wonders for end-game maps.

Anyways, thought I would share my adaption of this threads already awesome build! :)

PS: I recommend having frost wall in your arsenal. Can save you from heavy hitters / chaos spitters and you can ground slam through it ^.^

Took both of your suggestions. Went to ledge and stayed there till 43 (which is +4 lvls above fetid therefore no penalty). And somewhat being more cautious there rather than running and smashing everything i see like in normal.

Thanks for your input !

Well i dont have a totem (prolly took something else as reward), but necromancer was somewhat easy. I just used my warlords mark and tempted his mobs away where he could no longer reach. after that being all alone it was a piece of cake.

if i recall correctly it was one of the first quest reward gems. just make a new char, get the gem and thats all? :)

It is a pain if you dont build them fully before going in to pack of mobs. Mostly if I see rare or unique, i run around like stupid in circles before getting all 4 (for now) and then trying to kill it. Its irritating, but well, i want to survive rather than loose xp

You probably missed those parts where i am saying i`m not too happy to spend any of the orbs. Nor crafting nor trading. My goal is to start at least merciless and then try to craft. I`m one of those players who likes to play single player. And yeah, would be great to have at least some items (exluding belt) with +40 hp but that was what i got and those rares (they at least have resists) were way better than my previous stuff.

On a side note. the guide is still awesome. Probably would have dropped this game the first week if i havent found what ninja wrote. And the rest is just my own l2p fault :)

I personally wouldn't even bother crafting until well into end-game. It isn't worth the risk of losing so many orbs trying to get a decent roll. If you can save up some orbs (try farming ledge or fellshrine ruins for a while) and are willing to let a few go, you can buy really decent gear for a chaos or 2.

I know trading can be a bitch, but I highly recommend it to save orbs.

Hi there,

Thanks for the guide. Really helped me starting out.

I have a few questions though, is there a significant difference between using 2H-axe and 2H-mace? Also, what about replacing ground slam with Infernal blow?

Also, is there a significant difference between dual wield and 2h?
