" hey, i dont farm 70+ maps yet but am very close. i respeced some nodes like blood magic, regen & such and got 3 armour nodes at start of our tree and also body & soul node near templar life nodes. i also run determination aura which is a must for me (got a 400 pool of mana) and most importantly, use wurms belt for +2%mana leech. never had a single issue with mana in entire game because of that belt. also, i had trouble farming first maps with pure marauder build here, but soon as i respeced and got armor nodes, my survivability increased drastically for phys.dmg mobs (combined with endurance charges, ofcourse), elemental ones were never a problem cause i am almost capped at +80% and change rings when needed. gear;

Thanks for the Guide. Doing well so far at Act 2 Cruel, Merveill Cruel was cake. I went for the Duelist health nodes before going down to the Golem Blood with regen which I am just at now. I have ~1400HP at level 41 and 79/hp/s regen and another 0.4 regen node to take next level. I have little +life on hit on gear and using leap slam + life on hit + melee physical for AOE. I prefer leap slam to ground slam because of the 360 degree damage area of leap slam and leaping out of a pinch.
At this point my plan is to get faster attack gem and and 4L or 5L and my mace is about ready for an upgrade. Buff resistances and see how things go. I can usually only play 1-2 hours a day so this is a week + of playing this build. |

One thing that has been bugging me is the 12% physical damage bonus the OP recommends you get from Bandits quest in cruel difficulty. I think the 4% attack speed bonus (from the cruel bandit quest) is better and here is my reasoning:
I did some calculations using my lvl 42 Marauder's gear but with the fully upgraded passive tree. If I take the 12% physical damage bonus I get 872.85 dps with heavy strike and when I use the 4% attack speed bonus I get 871.88 dps with heavy strike. (Please bear in mind that my gear isn't very good as of yet). Why I believe the attack speed bonus would be better is because when you get bonus elemental damage on your gear (which you probably will - I have very little on my gear atm), your dps with the extra attack speed will surpass your dps with the extra physical damage. The faster attack speed will also yield higher health returns when using life on hit gems. I might be way off, but I would like to optimize my character as far as possible. Please let me know what you guys think? |

i was using a 1H mace + shield for normal.
i use shield charge for archers. now i got this (131 phys dmg): now that i'm not using a shield, i cant use shield charge. How do i deal w/archers and ranged monsters? Leap slam? edit: And no diamond skin (+15% ele resistances) in duelest tree? yeah, u have to spend 2 skill points on dex to get it. not worth the 2 skill points? hm.. if you skip the +30% Lightning resists and +30% cold resists by the Maurader start point and get Diamond skin in duelist tree, heres the difference: -15% lightning resist -15% cold resist +15% fire resist +20 dex 1 extra skill point to spend somewhere else What do you think? edit2: From the 1st page, How u do u get 9 endurance charges? u start with 3, get +3 from nodes and +1 from bandits. " No the 12% physical is better, u will get 4link gear later on so you can smack on faster attacks gems and combine that with blood rage u will hit like a truck and fast as a ninja :P |

+12% phys dmg vs +4% attack speed:
it depends on your build. (this build isnt about +ele dmg.) if it's mostly physical dmg, then +12% phys if your gear has lots of +ele dmg, and are using wrath+anger and wep ele dmg gem, then +4% att speed. and if you're going +ele dmg, might as well get the +91% in ele dmg nodes in the Templar tree. but at a cost of 9 skills points, what will you sacrifice? and there's the question of gear: to add wep ele dmg, u need 5L mace or 5L armor. and can u get gear that does the following on each? +life +chaos resists +ele dmg with at least 2 of the ele: fire/cold/lightning if u cant get 2+ ele dmg modifiers on gear, might as well stick with +phys dmg. the advantage of +ele is that u get 3x more modifiers than +phys due to the fact there are 3 ele vs 1 phys Last edited by Pi314#5955 on Feb 20, 2013, 4:14:07 PM
