[1.0.4] CI Flameblast/Infernal Mantle Burning Witch - updated! farm 73map with friendly gears

OP says to use Increased Burning Damage on 6L.

I'm almost positive that Fire Penetration would be better.

-The -% Fire would be a multiplier...and Inc Burn would just be more additive increased.

BTW, one should take into consideration that this build is not "newbie friendly", or at least not "low-level char friendly", because Flameblast is actually very clumsy and hard to use without a lot of "faster casting" and proper gear. The whole combo is mana intensive and not that great for leveling up, questing etc. What i am doing to level my Scion with this is to run around with Incinerate with Life Leach as a "main skill" for bosses and almost everything, and when a nice big pack forms i use the Cold Snap + Flameblast combo. Guess i'll have to stick with that till i get enough Cast Speed to be able to properly use Flameblast before monsters come out of Cold Snap freeze.

Also, happy new year! :D

This looks like a lot of fun, and I'm thinking about trying this build in the One-Week Nemesis race (just for fun, not competitively). Since I might not be able to find Infernal Mantle, I came up with this variant of the build that grabs 100% crit chance with spells. It basically drops the Shield ES nodes for those crit nodes. I also grabbed the Templar 40% mana regen instead of the Scion one, since it seems like you'd have plenty of mana anyway, so you get a bit more AoE radius and damage.

I'm still fairly new to the game, so I wanted to see if anyone has thoughts about this? Mistakes?

You don't need get the critical chance from passive tree or gears. This build owned 75%(5L) to 85%(6L) chance to ignite. And chance to ignite is rolled on "per-monster". You can refer to my test video in 6.2 of the another build.(http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/669129)

Enjoy this build in race! Happy New Year. :)

Awesome, thanks for the explanation about crit vs chance of burning (and shock/frozen). I'll skip the passive crit nodes, then. That Trap build looks fun, too! :)

First, fire pen affected only hit damage. It means burning damage was increased from the more hit damage, but the resistance of the monsters was not changed at burning stage.

Using fire pen

1.More total damage

According to 7.A, we could analyse them quickly. Assumed fire resistance(R) is 0.

With Lv20Q20 fire pen (hit damage = D x 1.85): total damage is D x 5.6906.

with Lv20 increased burning damage (B = 4.05): total damage is D x 5.145.

2.More mana cost

Mana cost multiplier: fire pen = 140% / increased burning damage = 120%
According to my char, mana cost is 34 per stage with fire pen / 29 with inc burning damage.
If cast speed is 113%, it means time per sec is 7.1 times.

Mana cost per sec with fire pen = 34 x 7.1 = 241.4

Mana cost per sec with increased burning damage = 29 x 7.1 = 205.9

3.More dangerous at reflect

Fire pen raised the hit damage, so it's the more dangerous at elemental reflect. Burning damage wasn't reflected.

Conclusion

If you want the more damage, choose fire pen. If you want the safer at reflect or less mana cost, choose increased burning damage.

Happy New Year! \0.0/

PS.I forgot to add hit damage (D x 1.85 / D x 1.5) to total damage, but the result was not changed. I have corrected it.

What do you think of using one spare 3L for Cast when dmg taken + ice nova + blind?

I'm using Elemental equilibrium and i'm liking both the (slight) added survivability of the blinded mobs and the constant refresh of -fire res.

From wiki, Spells do not have a chance to hit, the ability to hit with a spell is unaffected by being blinded.

Ice nova can make enemies chill, but it can also make damage of cold snap the lower. It means freeze duration would be the lower. Maybe you can try shock nova + knock back + CwDT. :)

FINALLY got my Witch to 62 to use her 5L Mantle and now she's leveling with ease. Sitting at 66 now. :)

I agree with the person stating that early game is really tough. It was but now that I have a 0.15 cast time on my Flameblast life is much easier.

Question to anyone. How important Zealot's Oath to be? I mean, I really don't have much Regen. Because if I don't get it, I can spec into some more Energy Shields or Block.

EDIT:

Also, I was wondering how to handle single targets like, for example, Piety. She can't kill me but I don't kill he very fast either.

Happy New Year and thanks for answer but i'll clarify a bit what i mean about icenova+blind combo:

When i'm running around gathering mobs CWDT will proc and mobs around me will get hit from Icenova (+25% cold res - 50% fire/light) and some of them will be blinded thus missing me 75% of the times if he is a melee.

I tried shock nova but it'll miss all the mobs in strict melee range; i'll definitely try the knockback idea.
