[1.0.4] CI Flameblast/Infernal Mantle Burning Witch - updated! farm 73map with friendly gears

I've been playing around with m 5L Mantle today.

What I found was, for a 5L, Increased Burning Damage seemed to do a LOT better than Faster Casting.

While being able to cast faster helps, wimpy white trash mobs don't need a level 10 Flameblast anyway. The increased burn, however, works wonders against Rares, especially Ele Resist ones.

Especially in Single Target scenarios.

I dunno. I went from 0.15 to 0.19 cast time by removing my Faster Casting but I feel like it works better. I'll try leveling up more and adding points into cast speed and such. I think they might help a ton and make 5L with Faster Casting even less useful.

This is sort of an embarrassing post, but I could really use some advice. My gear is at this point easily considered terrible minus my searing touch. I only have like 1k shield at this point and if anything sneezes on me I crumple like I'm made of paper. I have just been sort of powering through based on dps alone and the build's incredible ability to clear rooms with 1 spell cast but I could really use some advice on gearing up. My money is extremely limited, most all of it tied up in the staff. This is the only domination char I have so no other char to lean on for support. Suggestions would be very much appreciated, I can link my garbage if anyone wants but with 1k shield and 700 life at level 60 you can probably imagine how bad it is.
Why u not use Concentrated Effect and Area Effect ?

With the latest change to Freeze Mine I think it might be a better choice over Cold Snap. Maybe Freeze Mine + Added Cold Damage + AoE + Prolif?

Might have to get some gear with DEX to level it up but that 100% freeze chance is looking mighty fine, especially in a single target situation.

Yeah, freeze mine could trigger EE after 1.0.5. It's also a good skill to freeze enemies.
100% freeze chance is the best point. We could run higher level maps alone and still be the safe. :)

Let's analyse them.

According to 7.A, assume fire resistance(R) = 0 and with EE. All skill gems are Lv20/Q20.

1. link EP - Chance to Ignite - LL - Faster Casting - Fire Penetration

Fire skill damage = D

Burning bonus = B = 3.46

Hit damage = D x 1.85

Burning damage
= [D x 1.85] x 0.8B x [0.75]
= 3.8406

Total damage
= D x [1.85 + 3.8406]
= D x 5.6906

Cast speed = 46%(passive tree) + 49%(Q20Lv20 Faster casting) + 18%(wand) = 113%
Max stage(10) time = 3 / (1+113%) = 1.408 sec

DPS = D x 5.6906 / 1.408 = D x 4.042

2. Link EP - Chance to Ignite - LL - Faster Casting - Increased Burning Damage

Fire skill damage = D

Burning bonus
= B'
= 3.46 + 0.59
= 4.05

Hit damage = D x 1.5

Burning damage
= [D x 1.5] x 0.8B' x [0.75]
= 3.645

Total damage
= D x [1.5 + 3.645]
= D x 5.145

Cast speed = 46%(passive tree) + 49%(Q20Lv20 Faster casting) + 18%(wand) = 113%
Max stage(10) time = 3 / (1+113%) = 1.408 sec

DPS = D x 5.145 / 1.408 = D x 3.654

3. link EP - Chance to Ignite - LL - Concentrated Effect - Increased Area of Effect

Fire skill damage = D

Burning bonus = B = 3.46

Hit damage
= D x 1.5 x 1.69
= D x 2.535

Burning damage
= [D x 2.535] x 0.8B x [0.75]
= 4.21

Total damage
= D x [2.535 + 4.21]
= D x 6.745

Cast speed = 46%(passive tree) + 18%(wand) = 64%
Max stage(10) time = 3 / (1+64%) = 1.83 sec

DPS = D x 6.745 / 1.83 = D x 3.686

Conclusion

Linked Faster Casting and Fire pen still is the better. And the more cast speed didn't only offer the more damage, but also raised your survivability. So linked Faster Casting and Increased Burning Damage is also the better in my opinion. If we compared them by 5-Link, Concentrated Effect could offer much damage. But it's not worthy because its area is too small. Maybe it's viable to fight with single enemy by using searing touch at second weapon.

Actually, if we only care about the damage, increased fire damage would be the better than cast speed. Fire damage double buff the total damage.(hit damage and burning damage) why i listed cast speed at first?

Im playing on nemesis so I went with the scion/life version of the skill tree

I have a couple of questions:

-Should I still go for infernal mantle since it gives great fire dmg?

No. Infernal mantle indeed gave the better damage, but it's not worthy in life build. You should choose the armor chest with high life mod.

-What stats should I look for in end-game gear?

Defense: Armor / Life / resistance

Damage: 1.cast speed 2.increased fire damage 3.spell damage 4.increased radius of area skill

Cast speed go first. It also raise the defense in my opinion.

That's same as why we pick life/ES/block chance nodes. They all didn't offer the damage, but we need them to get the better survivability. Cast speed is also a double buff in my opinion.(damage and survivability) This build should give priority to raise the cast speed.

Hey, I would like to now, why you picked these 2 life nodes on the left hand side, to get to Amplify.
Isn´t it easier to go there from the top and take Celestial Walker for the Resistance?

I mean the 1% regen sounds good for our energy shield, but 8% Resistance is not bad either.

Could you explain to me why you picked what you picked`? xD

Thanks

you mean this tree http://goo.gl/AiBTaC?

Amplify and reduce mana cost nodes are the better than Celestial Walker and Mana nodes.

But you pick 2 life nodes which becomes useless, as soon as you have CI thats why i was wondering. Reduced mana cost is good, why not pick celestial walker and the amplify + reduced mana?
