Barrage Wonder Wanderer – how to DEMOLISH maps (1.3.X)
I currently have tabula rasa (barrage-chain-coc-life leech-ek-fireball), should i replace it with Lightning Coil Desert Brigandine (5L w/o fireball)? how much hp do i need to avoid getting shocked by phyisical dmg? can you elaborate how the phy dmg migration translates to lightning. Will this dps sacrifice increse overall maps surviaval. I also was considering increasing the int so i could use next tier wands (212) with higher spell dmg and 11+ crit maybe some atk speed mod? Is the le heup of all ring viable?

" Regarding the translation from physical to lightning damage provided by Lightning Coil. 40% Physical Damage taken covnerted to Lightning Damage: Lets say you take a hit of 1000 physical damage. You will take 600 of that damage as physical + 400 converted to lightning Assuming you have 75% lightning res, wich will apply to those 400 converted lightning damage. So you will negate 75% of that damage, wich is 300. So of those 400 damage you have taken, you will only receive 100 of it (400 - 300). Putting that together with the 600 of the initial hit of 1000, makes 700. Meaning you will only take 70% of the physical damage So using lightning coil and assuming you have 75% lightning resist, means you instantly get to pass 30% of all physical damage you take (whitout counting the rest of your armor from gear+grace, wich also provides physical damage reduction). About the dps sacrifice X survivability in more dificult maps. I keep swtching between a tabula and a 5L lightning Coil when i see fit. Depending on the dificulty of the map and its mods. Tabula when its a easy map so i can clear it faster, and Coil when i need to resist a few more hits. You don't need to change points in the build to get INT. Its easy to find Critical amulets and rings with + 30~50 int. IGN: Thrandiyr

This build is great, if you have ~10-12 exalted for the right uniques. And you need those uniques becouse if you dont have, you dont have enough crit. And you need minimum 60-70% crit chance to kill efficently.
I'm thinking about to go with 2 dagger and spectral throw + coc+ EK. |

Well I'll just relate my experience using a 6 link. Barrage, CoC, Life Leech all must stay so that leaves me 3 slots. Most of the gems below I will refer to I have at lvl 17. EK 307–460, Arc 21–401, Arctic Breath 164–247, and fireball 267-401.
Chain + EK + Arc Some of the best clearing speed on packs due to shock stacks, also it will clear stuff in all directions because of chain. Was running this a lot at first. Single target damage is not very good. This is still what I mostly run in groups. Chain + EK + Arctic Breath This is what I'm running mostly now solo, perhaps not quite as much damage because no shocking. The fact that everything gets frozen and slowed is not to be overlooked though. It also still pretty much wipes out large packs instantly. Also not very good damage single target. Chain + EK + Fireball Tried this and didn't like it at all. No shock stacks, no freezing, just didn't feel as good to me so I stopped using it after just a few runs of testing it out. Chain + Arc + Arctic Breath Tried this out for fun, not any good really. The shocking and freezing is nice, but EK just provides to much damage. Also sucks against magic/rare mobs with high resist all elements. GMP + Fireball + Arctic Breath With no chain you don't hit everything around you so you have to focus your spray more. Can still kill packs pretty quickly, but not as fast as the EK + Chain + something combo. Much better single target, but only if you are up somewhat close for the shotgun effect. Getting in close to get max damage could be an issue depending on your survivability. I ran this for a little while and it was fun, but I ended up going back to chain + ek + ab. It just seemed overall clearing speed was better the other way, although I could take down single target stuff this way quicker. Chain + GMP + Arctic Breath or Fireball Fun and ridiculous looking, in a good way, not particularly useful though. Other thoughts and questions I have still. I didn't try any GMP + EK + something setups because I feel like it's waste since GMP doesn't do much for EK. Using the GMP setup might be better with Fireball and Freezing Pulse instead of Arctic Breath because FP might shotgun better. I'm also curious to try it with Ice Spear. My FP gem is 14 and Ice Spear 12 so I can't really test them on par with my lvl 17 gems. There is always the option of carrying them all around and switching back and forth, but I find this is a pain in the ass and not fun to do. It also just slows you down having to do that and might not even be worth it for pure clearing speed. So I'm trying to decide what the best all purpose combo is. The above is just my opinion and I'm sure some will disagree, but I've enjoyed reading what other people have found so I thought I should share what I've found works best for me. Currently my gear is not that great so I'm only at 62%/60% crit mainhand/offhand. Once I get it up higher some of this might change, but I'm guessing it will mostly work out the same. |

" That's not really true, here is my gear with no uniques and I have over 60% chance to crit with both mainhand and offhand. My next four levels will also be finishing off a cluster of 15% crit nodes which should put me around 65% I think. Only unique I really want to get is a rat's nest which will boost me even higher.

" I keep seeing comments like this. Someone posted a similar thing in my thread as well. It's not true. I've spent 1-2 ex at most. And you need maybe ~40% crit. With a Voll's Protector and added Power Charges, that brings it up to ~50%. That's every other attack. Add a Diamond Flask, which rolls your crits twice and boom! |

" How are you figuring you need that cost in gear to get enough Crit to kill efficiently? The only thing holding back my Shadow right now is that I don't have a 5L that will let me use LL+Vaal Pact. I could try and get the right colours on my Voll's Protector but GGGGR isn't very likely Gear @63

Without Power Charges I have 40% and 52.53% Crit chance, with 3 power charges I have 52.7% and 68% (if I spec'd the 4th charge I'd be at 56.7% and 73.8%. 78% Cast on Critical strike means I'm triggering on average every 2-3 casts of Barrage. Other than high life/high armour enemies I have little difficulty killing enemies, even when they're alone. Get 2+ Champions and they die almost simultaneously because they chain between each other. Total cost so far has been ~1ex 3c on Dom for the uniques and I've been running Barrage + CoC since 35 without much difficulty (so at <45% crit even with 4 power charges at one point). Add Maligaro's (~1-1.5ex) and find a good 5L or 6L to replace Voll's and I'll be keeping similar killing speed (can add Diamond Rings/Crit collar next, also upgrade to better wands). Lightning Coil is the 'ideal' armor for the build, it works with Tabula Rasa as well, which means any 5L or 6L will provide appropriate killing speed. IGN: Tresmere, Mariela, Manyella
