Without Insta leech this build seems very squishy. I replaced my old amulet with this one. Low life, No crit multiplier, but...eh... I'm out of orbs. |

" Do you mean switching to elemental, or switching from elemental? If you're switching to elemental damage, you don't need physical damage of any form - you want spell damage or elemental damage. If you're switching to EK, yes, it's nice to have. Lightning Coil adds a decent amount of life for a unique chest. Also, it doesn't tack a -50% maximum mana afffix. I run a Purity of Lightning aura to both offset the loss in resistance and to further reduce incoming physical damage. " Ethereal Knives is a spell. Spells aren't attacks. Carnage Heart provides leech for physical attack damage. " I never found that I needed it. Damage output to groups is monstrous, and your hits freeze. The only concerns are damage reflection mobs or maps. Only double elemental reflection is an issue (map + mob reflection sources), in which case, I turn off Hatred and play normally. Double physical reflection is a bit less straightforward. In that case, I actually want to hit as many enemies as I can in one attack - ideally, all enemies are bunched in one small group, where I can wipe them all out in a small fraction of a second. In this case, I curse with Critical Weakness, activate Atziri's Promise, and cast Barrage once from up close - and it works fine. In this case, I trigger a CwDT - Enduring Cry - Immortal Call - Increased Duration link due to reflected damage. However, Ethereal Knives deals damage in many small hits rather than one large one (like Flameblast or Discharge, for example), so what happens is that only a rather small amount of damage is reflected before Immortal Call is cast - at which point, I can deal as much damage as I want until it expires. This is where being close to the pack of enemies and drawing the enemies in close is important - Immortal Call doesn't last very long (unless you have 20q IC and 20/20 ID), so you want all of the chained EK hits to fly to their last targets before the spell wears off. Additionally, I use a Topaz Flask and a Granite Flask. I don't know exactly what sort of physical reduction the armor + Granite flask provides, but the Lightning Coil + Purity of Lightning aura + Topaz flask combination reduces incoming physical damage by 36%. Playing like this has resulted in zero deaths due to damage reflection of any sort. My shadow is level 87 at the moment. Separately, I expect to acquire Atziri's Acuity in the vaguely near future, so reflection of all forms should be a non-issue. Lastly - that's a nice amulet. You might find it desirable to find one with a larger life affix in the future, but I'm sure that one will do fine for now. |

is elemental path much more powerful since its using 2 skills: Fireball and arctic breath compare to only EK?
also in 1.1.5 EK damage will be nerf'ed by 20% however there is a new Lightning ball skill which is quite interesting. ;) |

unconfirmed 1.1.5 changes:
EK damage -20% = less damage for coc builds cast speed -20% = more damage for selfcast builds hmm.. we shall see ... too bad though as i was just ripping through the content with this amazing build ... |

Loved the build, played it on invasion with a slightly different play style:
All my gear was acquired on invasion, got to level 84 before ripping to desycn Skill tree (As of level 87) Running MoM + AA + EB and using a shield instead of duelwielding wands Comments of tree:
