" Just a heads up - you will have to have LMP for ice spear to be viable. Otherwise your going to freeze 1 monster at a time and the rest will walk up to you, while your lagged out, and punch you in the face. Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!!

" I tried AB for a while. I actually did fairly extensive testing on almost every spell out there. There are a number of problem with AB. 1) You better have a BEAST machine if you use this with coc/lmp or you will lag out on every pack. 2) Low base crit chance. 5% is well below Ice Spear's 7%. I know 2% sounds like a tiny bit but crit chance is multiplicative from the base. Say you get 600% increased crit chance. That gives Ice spear 42% chance to crit and leaves AB at a meager 30%. Also note that Ice Spear's 2nd form gives an additional 600% bringing it up to 84% while AB still sits at 30%. 3) AB does not pierce at close range. If you have a lot of mobs you can easily walk a little closer to the front line as you throw out daggers. This will cause You spears to pierce allowing you to hit many more monsters than you ever could with AB's AoE splash dmg. Final thought - AB has Higher base dmg, but with the lower crit chance you actually end up with lower overall dps (not talking about tooltip dps. Talking about observed time it takes to clear full areas over extensive testing). You will get AoE dmg from your other spell so it is not needed from AB. " i was talking ab mainly for freeze. well for me atleast, im using ek gmp coc st and ab/ice spear. due to gear i currently have i need to use ek + hatred. ab seems at quick use to be better effective to freeze packs. |

" Oh ... well ... Since your running GMP all of your projectile spell dmg is trashed and Ice spear wont do well for you. AB may do alright for freeze for a bit but the freeze will drop off hard in later maps. It will be unable to do enough dmg per hit to take enough hp% off of mobs to cause a freeze. Your better off to pick a non projectile spell like Cold Snap for freeze, since it doesn't suffer from the reduced dmg on gmp. It's base dmg is fairly high plus it has a passive chance to freeze as well as increased chill length. AB may serve you well with it's ground ice effect. But it's damage will be lackluster. hey guys just a short question.
on your build you run with did someone tried to run we will lose 10% block and 90 crit i think, but we gain the option to color the weapon like GGB or GGG for attack speed. i really enjoy that build, curently lvl 38 and running docks in nearly 5 mins. I test some other option´s like Arctic Breath and it feels good, but i think the Ice Spear is the best combo right ? 1 thing is left, what is the second form from Ice Spear i dont understand what it is ? maybe someone can explain that. tyvm Last edited by ExiledEUW#4195 on Jan 14, 2014, 2:51:24 PM

When it comes down to it you should use whatever you find fun and engaging. I am very much a fan of doing your own thing. That is how I got this build in the first place. I made it from scratch without any input from anywhere. " When Ice spear leaves you character it pierces for a short distance (1/3 of your screen give or take). After that it will kind of detonate on the next target it hits. That is its '2nd form'. At that point it gains a 600% increased base crit chance. You should play with spear for a bit to find out where the sweet spot is so you know exactly how far away it goes into '2nd form'. Check out my Frozen Dagger build in the Shadow forums!!

ty for the fast answers. im playing a bit around with ek fireball arctic breath ice spear cuz i only have a 4l for lvling. its still great no question and i see what ya mean with ice spear, im really fast at my clearing speed and it seems that its the best choice for that build.
