How the Open Beta launch will work

The open beta starts 30mins after I get home from work, then I have 4days off. It's like I got to choose the time when OB starts, best time ever :).

But if everything goes bad and wont be able to play, thats OK. I know this game is in the long run, months, years, decades of excitement!

Good luck GGG.

Had a signature RiP list but it just to long now :)
Great job GGG!!! You've made a great game so far, I can't wait to see A3 and the patch notes to plan my char!
This is the last final wipe?
So no wipe when going from Open Beta to Release?

I would have thought it best to give 5-10 hours for everyone to download the patch, and start the season off somewhat like a race. Thats kinda how I was hoping :(.

Luckily I started to come down with a sickness today so I will be able to play first thing tomorrow. After reading this though, I may just try to tough it out at work tomorrow and take Thursday off.

Welp, time to prepare. Going to the store, fixing my car, and cleaning around the house and getting on the wifes good side to prepare for this!

Gotta get in on this historical thread!

@Chris and GGG don't you worry. We know how are the launch days. Even D3 had major server crashes and instability first month.

We are all with you, just keep doing, what you do the best !
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.

This is coming straight from the heart <3

So let me get this straight... You want to have not only all the CB testers, but all the OB testers downloading the 1.5GB file at the same time, and you don't see where there could be an issue?

In before Error 37.

We don't have a viable way of distributing the patch before the patch is deployed to production so that is just how it will have to be.

If patching is a very big problem for our CDN, we have a backup plan for an additional 70 GBits of bandwidth from our game servers that we can throw on patching temporarily. The servers are already running, we would just need to add them to the patching list.

Why not torrent?
Copying this from another thread -

A lot of us are going to play 200-1000+ hours over the next several months and years. I know it's hard.. but it's important to remember that if you can't play for a couple hours due to server issues on release day, it's not a big deal.

For anyone that skips school or takes time off work -- if there are issues and you can't play, don't blame GGG. Anyone that has ever played online PC games on launch days should know there are almost always issues. If you posses that knowledge and still choose to change your schedule to be able to play the minute the game launches, you are the only person responsible for any frustration that causes.

Manage your expectations. Allow a smooth launch to be a pleasant surprise.
