It's kind of weird. I've been dual-wielding the entire time but I really don't like the animation on dual strike (it seems so very sluggish) so I'm using viper strike/double strike.
Seems kinda idiotic :/
That animation is kinda weird. But Dual strike use dmg from ur both weapons Double strike uses only main hand weapon. But with that skill I am able to 1 hit almost every single monster.
Yeah, I got about 400 - 500 more dmg on dual strike compared to double strike. The skill is probably better when dual wielding, it just feels crappy.

HC: MrsNagarashi or Nagarashi_JrJr
Double strike is better because you need only 1 great weapon. Generally you'll have 1 weapon better then the other and double strike hits with that twice. Dual strike hits with your good weapon then your crap weapon.
Additionally on hit effects are triggered only once but are triggered twice with double strike. I.e. a 1-30 lightning support will be triggered twice with double strike but only once with dual strike

Don't think that is still the case, I feel PoEwiki is not updated in every article.
In the Dual Strike thread (beta skill shizzle) Mark stated that in patch 0.9.xx dual strike has been fixed and shows the correct dps.

Why would u asume that I have my off hand weapon crap? I have 2 good daggers and I can 1 hit almost every monster atm. Let's say u have 2 teh same epic weapons. So u can deal alot of dmg with 1 skill. And it's kinda obvious that double strike apply 2x on hit effects and dual only 1x cuz it hit only once, but when u have 2 the same weapons it will be actually the same on hit effect but u will hit harder.
Yeah I really need some help too I am mana deprived when it comes to using lightning strike without someone using clarity... currently have 675 mana and here is my gear... maybe its my weapon i only do 2500 damage lightning strikes with haste hatred wrath and anger up help me out please. I have all kinds of currency to spend on upgrades i just need to know what i should upgrade btw all this gear was dfound never bought anything yet.

Extreme use of the example. I said your main hand will be better. Unless you use a mirror you wont have 2 identical weapons. 1 will always be better than the other weapon and double strike hits twice with your better weapon. Additionally your more likely to get a double crit with double strike because if your first hit crits so does your second. If you have a 1-30 lightning support gem in your Dual strike you'll get 1-30 damage extra, if thats linked to Double strike you get 2-60 damage extra. That is what i meant by the on-hit. Not weapon specific.
Its upto you buddy anyway, if you feel it yields more dps for you, your current build and current gear then maybe it will. For the rest of us Double strike is better.

Thanks for explanation. I guess that's the reason why should I use dager/shield. But then again shield itself is worth anything? Don't we need any perks to make some block or smt? Or it give us just more armor. I don't know how shields work in here...
