/pref ably astral plate as you stated, where can i find this item? cheers

nice find! Astral Plates are level 62 items. you'll have to farm a level 62 area to have the highest chance of finding it.

Im a bit curious, there's 3 %hp nodes right at the start on the right hand side. Why are they not picked up because the ethos of this build seems to be max hp ?

Additionally im curious about late game choices.

Specifically this area. You have opted for 2 x 15% crit damage reduction but instead you could have 10% + 15% armour bonus which is probably around 2.5k additional armour by changing it a little as per image 2.

Whats your thoughts on this ? im only level 28 and have no other characters so forgive me if im misguided :)

Change from:

In other news, im loving this build. Double strike is 305dps, Lightning strike is 245 tooltip dps. Draws 24 mana, using 2 health and 3 mana pots i've never once run outta mana yet. Trick is to drink a mana pot instantly when you press the first LS. Just completed Act 2 without any issues at all. I picked up 12% attack speed increased while dual wielding (i might drop later) and the 3 hp nodes mentioned earlier. Gear is as follows if anyone is interested:

Spoiler

Appreciate the effort you went thru to depict those choices! :)

I'll address the hp nodes issue first:

By the time you reach that area of the skill tree, after picking might + fitness cluster, you would have enough HP nodes to do relatively well for the difficulty that you're in. Taking 3x8% hp nodes at that point would:
1. be overkill
2. slow down your progress at later levels, because you have quite a distance to travel to mara/templar areas! Hence I opted out of the 3x8% nodes and saved the 3 points for other stuff instead.

With regards to the armour nodes, it depends on what you deem more deadly. Armour protects you more against normal hits, but critical strike reduction will protect you more against the dangerous critical hits, which armour tends to not protect as efficiently. Hence my personal preference for the critical defence nodes.

Here's a picture to illustrate the protection armour offers:

as you can see from the graph,
25% increased armour might potentially not reduce as much damage from heavy hits (critical strikes) as compared to critical strike defence nodes.

May be a common question, but i'd like to know so as to not screw up my character.

Is there a major difference between the CI and the EB/armor versions of this build? Can I run either or and prove successful?
Also what are the major differences in these builds?

Thanks

CI is somewhat more straight forward. Just get enough ES gear, spec into CI and that's it. However, getting 1 piece of good ES gear is already tough enough, what more for the rest of your equipment slots.

In addition, CI builds require a different form of gameplay as compared to HP builds.

For the EB/armour version to succeed you need a total of 60% chaos resists to bring your chaos resist to 0%. That shouldn't be that tough however and should be easier to find than godlike ES gear.

To be honest, if you're new to this game, it is quite unlikely that you'll be successful. You might wanna start off with an easier build instead

Thanks for the reply invalesco :)

Is that graph a true representation of damage reduction or an example ? What level is it from ? Or does it work like evasion and not level based ? Do you know the crit level of mobs equal level ? Generally its 5% n similar games so in reality were only negating 30% of 5% of hits ?

While it will help to reduce damage spikes it seems very little negation if the above assumptions are correct. :) then again it'll help a lot in PvP I imagine.

The three 8% hit point nodes do seem overkill though yr right. I killed vaal on the first attempt by standing there tanking it which means I could increase DPS and lose some HP judging by how other people have said its a step up... I knew I was making mistakes not following your guide to the letter. That's just cost me 3 orbs of regret and I haven't even seen 1 drop yet ha.

Ah sorry I blindly didnt fully understand the graph. Of course the harder you get hit the less effect armour has I.e. each point of armour is worse than the last. Still towards the end of the graph it looks like a flat 5-6% damage reduction those nodes give as opposed to the 30% reduction on 5% of hits. Assuming 5% mob crit.

Invalesco;

Did u think about playing Shadow with dualwielding? I'd like to run with 2 daggers and I wodner if this build will work with them. Also is shield rly that important or useful? Dual Strike deals a LOT more dmg than double strike and with this HP/Armor build should I be able to use 2 daggers instead of shield?

I ask u cuz I see u know what u are talking about and I wonder if I can modify this build [or just use] for dualwielding? Or meaby u have some dualwielding guide in mind? :)

I'm wondering why you're advocating Double Strike over Dual Strike for your main DPS skill if you're dual wielding? Isn't Dual Strike better since it strikes with both weapons?

NVM I'm an idiot, this isn't a dual-wield build I guess... =/

It's kind of weird. I've been dual-wielding the entire time but I really don't like the animation on dual strike (it seems so very sluggish) so I'm using viper strike/double strike.

Seems kinda idiotic :/

That animation is kinda weird. But Dual strike use dmg from ur both weapons Double strike uses only main hand weapon. But with that skill I am able to 1 hit almost every single monster.
