Beating Nemesis without rares or uniques

TBH most of the "Sam"s in this forum are complaining about self-found being impossible, not the game without rares. Good luck doing that, my softcore char has worse gear at level 70 than those blue items he bought, nemesis I tried not trading at all and I couldn't reach far enough without insane grinding. Self-found is the REAL nemesis challenge.

Self found gear for comparison, I went for blood magic explosive arrow since its the best balance of easy to gear and survivability

Character is level 50 but I stopped playing after that cause I wanted to go domination and play with trading for a while.

Your explosive arrow link set up isnt very good. You should have concentrated effect in place of faster attack, its a new layer of multication 'more damage'. I know concentrated effect
can only be gotten through trading but I'm asuming you are ok with doing minor trading because
you based your build around a unique.

The decision to go blood magic was bad. Its obvious you need a purity aura to help you cap your resists but you can't do that without hurting your health pool.

You are putting a lot of emphasis on item rarity at low level. Thats a bad idea. Item find
is a luxery stat that you get once your survivability and clear speed are both already high.
Its not how you recover from making a bad character. Your gold rings should be replaced
by coral or resist rings.

You need to focus on life rolls and resist better if you are struggling to survive. Several of your items are so bad it would be better if you used a blue of life/resist. If RNG is really screwing you over than you need to start getting your non-survability stats from the passive tree.

You have no real utility skills: no totem of any kind (rejuv, decoy, ranged attack totem+blind)
No molten shell or blinding mine
You dont even have a temporal chains or enfeeble

Theres a lot wrong with your build I can see just from your gear. There might be other issues with your tree and flasks that I'm not aware of.

Honestly my trading wasn't too much of an aid. Yeah I got a 5 link but I didn't even wear it until I was in merciless. Dominus cruel was killed with a 3 link.

Some of the rare items had really high life/resist rolls: much higher than I could get from my own crafting but until I got to merciless I was WAY overcapped on resists. If I was using rares like you than I would have the possibility of getting more than 1 resist roll on each item.

Playing self found can be done 1 of 2 ways.

The first way is to win with brute force: you make many characters (either by dying a lot or just never dedicating yourself to a single one) and save up all the good stuff you find in your stash until you have a very large selection of gems/gear to pick from. You may end up having to have a bank alt or buy stash tabs. This is how most people play self-found.

The second way is to create 1 character and just go through all the content using only quest
rewards and the random drops. This is much harder to do. It doesnt work with every build in the game (mainly due to how limited your gem options are from quest rewards). You can't pull it off with strong knowledge of the game: you need to research what the quest reward gems are and plan from there. Racers do this all the time.

If you want to learn how to trade than don't learn on a softcore server. Softcore has a very different economy. Even the standards of what a 'good' item is are different. If you want to learn to trade here is the value of orbs http://exilestats.com/ex/ The prices are not set in stone but this gives you a good ball-park figure of their trading value. I gave some trading advice in my other log "advice and tips" everything else you have to learn from experience.
loving reading this. can't wait for the next update.
Very fun to read!

Thanks for the tips

I haven't found conc effect yet, plan to get cwdt from that quest instead anyway.
I went blood magic because there is literally no way to sustain the mana cost. I plan on eventually respecing and using the support gem when I get better gear and 5 link, its much better to have it as it is right now as I need resolute technique which is closeby anyway.
Those rings are actually the best I've found. I use gold ones because I value item rarity in cases where survival is guaranteed. I have a whole tab of rings which I use sometimes including

but as you can see my rares are better in most cases. I already know how to trade and have completed builds in domination, I use nemesis for self-found because I think the hardcore setting fits better.

Planning to respec to aura and aoe nodes when I grab static blows or burning nodes unless my gear sucks. My flasks are saturated/seething, staunching, decursing quicksilver, reflex granite, and a ruby.

Probably the final build, have to test to see if burning/ele prolif or elemental equilibrium turns out to be better, or if its worth even taking aura nodes

as for support skills I would LOVE to have temporal chains or a cwdt setup with molten shell right now, but I do use manual cast molten shell when I really feel like I need it, and devouring totem is very good and I always use it.

Ey NotRegret, just so you know.

I read all of your great wall of china of text and after nearly 2 years of playing I learned more from it than from my own experience. Solo dominus without portals, dying or overlevelling is something I could not pull before, now done. So uh, thanks I guess.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future.

The device is believed to have been dropped
