Whether a SC witch is easy to do with only blue gear or not, I think NotRegret's point was to prove that you do not necessarily need godlike gear to do well in this game. It's not even as if he'd play "self found" like any other person might, but he's vendoring rares (and uniques? definitely not wearing them at least).

I'm very impressed by NotRegret's achievements. :D
Keep it up.

I'm not sure what you are suggesting by the bolded part.Clarification ?

I'm impressed with his dedication and happy for his achievments.

It means he's vendoring rares that might be better than his blues to further gimp himself in order to prove that you don't need all those uniques and Überrares people are trading for.

Ahh ok I understand now. =)

Your more likely to buy what you need as most stuff you find won't be build viable or have as high rolls as traded gear, especially at the later stage and the chances of finding a unique that fits the bill is pretty slim (I've only ever had one level 8 or something unique shield that I used on a character self found).

It's a good opportunity to ask just how many uniques Noregret has stumbled upon and if they were viable alternatives to his current gear and build, also if he had found any rares with better rolls than what he managed to buy.
This concept proves nothing. Anyone can beat the game by killing Merc Dominus. If you really want to prove anything, invalidate the following:

1) How about those of us that enjoy making powerful characters? A player should just build around a 4 link and hope to get lucky? They should constantly aim below the bar because they don't have the luck to find, patience to trade, or hours to grind for the good stuff? If so, a game that gloats about build customization should throw a huge asterisk next to it with some clause about how only 1% of the population will actually experience that.

2) Anyone can stack health nodes, strength, and run ST or LA with Iron Grip to beat the game. So your are proving that everyone should just run one of those two builds and that makes any arguments at gear acquisition invalid? Hardly proving anything to your benefit. If anything, it's only reinforcing the above, that the top 1% have true build customization.

3) "Just play the game to have fun!" Subjective. Different people have different ideas of fun. If some people don't get bored of just using a skill or beating the same storyline for the 10th time, thats great. They are easy to entertain and would probably be happy with any changes anyways. Others enjoy things like being powerful, creating a variety of builds, or simply collective massive amounts of wealth to make their inventory look prettier. Telling someone to "just have fun, its up to you" is like telling someone that hates the taste of strawberries "just enjoy the food, its up to you!"

As far as I'm concerned, OP proves nothing. Wasting your time dude.

Probably.

Just a heads up, it is half phys and it will absolutely one shot you if you get hit with it. The larger threat, and the one you need to prepare yourself for, is the exploding minions. You might want to consider leveling a temporal chains. I don't know if it would be helpful or not for your style, but I'd hate for you to get there and then find out you need to go grind out 10 levels on a TC.

This thread is epic. I love the way you write your log entries. It's kept me riveted through 18 pages.

Edit: I'm really suprised reflect has not been an issue. Is stacking storm call on them not giving you problems?

Also, if you make it to merc dom, I think after he comes down from the tower, you should invite someone who streams to sit in the instance and stream it. As long as they leave right before you kill the first form, and return right after the second form starts, he won't get any extra health.

am following this and rooting for you.

am tired of people complain about how you need amazing items etc to beat the game when all you need to do is alt the crap out of things and itemize properly

Dominu's human form though: thats what I am worried about. I have never actually foughten
merciless dom you see. Could his hand of god 1shot me if i had 75 lightning and 4k life?
Probably.

Thats not too big an issue: I move very fast and have lot of practice.

I'll point that whenever I fight dominus even if im a level 80 doing a normel kill-for-pay
I do not face tank a hand of god. My muscle memories are refined from countless practice,
something that the people who pay for rushes have not earned.

I bait dominus into doing hands of god (intentionally get up close to make him use it than run and shoot him while he hits the ground).
I learn it has an internal cool down. I don't think baiting him into it
is a very reliable tactic. If I could learn exactly when the cool down ends it may be.

I practice dodging his lightning stream and hitting at the end, after he stops the hose
there is a moment where he lets you get in free hits. If his stream is giving me trouble on cruel than
it will be the most dangerous thing in the fight for merciless.

I still do not have a proper solution for it.

what helps is having a topaz flask handy for the lightning.

also, his hand of god has a high chance of missing if he is blinded. so if you could drop a totem down with spark and blind, fork, culling attached it...or whatever spell you prefer...just as long as it can hit something with ease...maybe arc?

might also be good to have a granite handy in case the titty bitches and whipper are hitting for too much

youre missing the point

hes addressing the tons of QQ'ers out there who are saying the game needs to be nerfed some and that crafting/gear drops suck
