[1.xx] Islidox's Build tips/critique section for Rangers

You have 2 extra passive points to redistribute:
1. 10 Dex that is next down from Finesse (at the start)
2. Take 10 dex at the bottom circle from Deadly Draw instead 2 * 10 dex from the left of +1 Frenzy Charges.

You can negate both pairs of Frenzy charges passives to take 1 power charges to have route to Nullification if you want to save 2 more points.

And I would add 1 point to +6% allres you have access at the top near cluster of 3 * +8% HP.


More criticals, no Frenzy charges variant but more Power Charges that gives extra 50% increased Critical Strike Chance per Charge.

It was just my theoricrafting, actually I don't know how that Ghost Reaver works.
If you don;t have anything with life leech, then it is worthless skill. And I still don't know what is better 5 frenzy charges, which give you
+5% increased Attack Speed per Charge
+5% increased Cast Speed per Charge
+4% evasion per Charge
Or 4 power charges with
+50% Critical Chance per Power Charge

Frenzy charges received from Frenzy or Blood Rage skills that are pure Dex skill, and you have enough Dex, but Power charges comes from Power Siphon.

Increased Physical Damage per Frenzy Charge: When you use Frenzy (the skill) to attack an enemy, you will receive a bonus to the physical damage done by that attack based on how many frenzy charges you had before using the skill. If you have two frenzy charges and attack with a level 10 Frenzy (the skill), you will receive a 14% increased physical damage bonus. If the attack hits, you will also receive another frenzy charge.

Increased Attack Speed per Frenzy Charge: When you use Frenzy (the skill) to attack an enemy, you will receive a bonus to the attack speed of the attack based on how many frenzy charges you had before using the skill. Note that frenzy charges grant +5% attack speed per charge to any attack, which also apply to attacks made with Frenzy (the skill). So, if you have a level 10 Frenzy skill gem and two frenzy charges, you will get a total of 26% (2 * 8% + 2 * 5%) increased attack speed with your next attack made with Frenzy, but only a 10% increased attack speed bonus with any other attack that does not have a similar bonus.

Multiple Projectiles: When Frenzy is used with a ranged weapon and multiple enemies are hit, only one frenzy charge maximum will be gained per use of the skill.

Since I've gained some levels, I started to wonder about gem distribution in items. If I want to boost my 2 main attacks (Frenzy, Split arrows) with at least 2-3 support gems (faster projectiles, iron grip, maybe some attack speed) should I put these 2 main attacks with support gems in one item? Or maybe its better to have f.ex. 2x faster projectiles gem (and others) and put them separate items?
First off want to say thanks for this great thread that reminds us to focus on the basics first before trying anything fancy.

Second, I'm currently level 42 following very close to your Frenzy 2 build and I am absolutley loving it. Powering things with frenzy is fantastic and I'm having a lot of fun using it alongside rain of arrows. Also thrown in poison arrow with LMP to hit everything with a DOT and then drop down the rain of arrows. I love having lots of things to juggle keeping up frenzy charges and curses.

My main question though is how the steel skin armour nodes go vs the reflexes node? If I have iron reflexes, do armour and evasion gains equate to exactly the same thing? So therefore the steel skin nodes are 2% better? (10+12+30 vs 10+10+30)

Also do you think it's worth going for some crit nodes at all? I'm pondering trading in some mana nodes and a small bit of survivability to try and flesh out the crit chance a bit.
I'm currently trying to figure out a end-game build for my bow ranger. And I really mean END-game. Almost all points can be spent and since I'm going with crit i will leave the crit multiplier nodes (some of them) for last.

The main concern is the defence, since slapping on dps is easy enough.

The build offers:
188% more evasion rating. (with frenzy charges on)(this doesn't include the dex from the build) (all of the defence is evasion + acrobatics)
148% to maximum HP.
+120str.
+20 to maximum life.


Also the intelligence might be a problem, since I will need increased crit chance and increased crit multi (both are int gems).

The build offers: only 60 int.


I need critique on the build's defence and an idea of how much int I need for the 2crit gems.

Could I get some opinions on what the best single target ability is for early/mid game? Right now, I am content using Split Arrow/Fork for AOE and using a combination of Ice Arrow/Poison Arrow for single target. Is there a more optimal way?

I would like to take LA to replace PA eventually. I see that PA does good damage, but I dislike waiting for damage ramp up. I just want to fire and go! :)

Hey there. Quality read. I still have a few questions if you don't mind answering. I'm very new to this game.

2) So far i've been using Rain of Arrows for aoe with the added cold damage passive gem. And for my main attack i'm using burning arrow with faster projectile. My question is are these good combinations, and if not what do you suggest I keep an eye out for? Like what skills should I really be aiming to use if I eventually find them?

3) What do you find more effective overall: Evasion or Armor? I'm an experienced gamer with quick reflexes if that matters in the decision.
