Harbringer gives 50% increased crit chance, but it is local crit chance, so it is apploied before your skill / global multipliers are applied. So the increase is not 2.5%, but 2.5% * your multipliers (I just double checked in game - with spine bow, I have 23% crit chance, with a non-perfect Harbringer, I have 34% chance).

This means that using your example, you would do 2000 * (0.2 * 5 + 0.8) = 3600 DPS with Lioneyes and 1800 * (0.3 * 5 + 0,7) = 3960 DPS with Harbringer and 90% chance to hit, which is a 10% increase in flat DPS. This might not seem like that much - but you would also crit a LOT more, so you would shock more, gain charges faster etc (and the more chance to crit passives you have, the bigger the difference will be).

As for defense, I will try the faster casting trick and level up my gems some more. I probably just need some getting used to it. I also need to start casting Enfeeble or Temporal Chains - that would probably help me survive

Sorry i haven't been able to respond until now. I completely forgot that the crit chance was local (4 days with 4-5 hours of sleep will do that too you. Hate finals week).

Well if thats the case, and it is how you say It would def be a good idea to work towards an endgame harbinger. I generally never considered getting one since lioneyes is practically endgame, and i don't have the currency to buy a high dps harbinger. Also, looking through poexplorer I didn't get me many with high damage. My guess is that a high pdps harbinger would be worth a terribly high amount, since they are rare.

I guess it depends on whats available to you, and what your willing to spend in the end game.

Very interesting build! Trying to make up my mind on which build to use for my recently created LA shadow. Leaning towards yours. I'm just wondering, how well do you handle mapping? Both solo and in a full party. And what is the highest map level you feel confident in doing safely, and might this increase with better gear or is it a build limitation?

I'm looking to play both solo and in a party, but probably more solo. Just want a fast, hard hitting ranged character that I can also invest a lot of exalted into to make amazing. :)

Thanks for a well structured and informative guide!

i've soloed 75 maps no probs. My main issue is gear and actually aquiring the maps. I really don't want to spend tons of currency for maps when i can just kill dominus in less than 2 minutes and get 3 full inventories of ilevel 70 gear doing it.

For party play, i have a decent amount of projectile damage in the build. This means that your dps will explode next to people stacking auras and who run elemental builds. I mentioned in the guide that i do 50k dps on my frenzy with a friend who has a support aura build, I was not kidding and this is before pointblank.

If i had a legacy koams i'm sure this game would become easy mode lol.

As I said, it's still a theoretical question as I don't have orbs for neither of those.

I gave the EC / IC combo another try and it just is not for me. I am doing quite fine with Evasion / Dodge so far and in sticky situtaions I usually just hit my flasks and run away. As for reflect, my buffed DPS with Hatred and full charges is around 7k, so I can still kill anything with careful pacing and flasks. I will have to find another solution to this, since this is simply not working for me.

I have also finally bought Ice Shot gem and leveled it a bit and I must say it is an AMAZING CC solution - I have linked it with Ranged Attack Totem and GMP and it is able to clear mobs in 66 maps by itself :) I can't wait to put in in 4 link with Faster Attacks or some other nice support. It makes me want to experiment with totems a bit more...
Thanks for the answers. What's your thoughts on using Rat's Nest/Alpha's Howl and Maligaro gloves for added crit chance and damage? Will balancing resists be too hard without rare pieces in those slots? Just a few more levels until I can use the build properly...

Definitely... the ranger passive tree has no resists nodes and you have to go really far out in the passive tree to get some resists. You could run some purity auras to offset this, which I believe Alpha's Howl can help out.

However, generally I'll prefer to focus on survivability in my armour pieces as some Maps can really send your ranger back to town frequently.

np.

Rat's nest/maligaros are great dps boosters for crit buidlds. One problem is that you will miss out on resists/health. If you have to choose between one of the two, I would personally go with rat's nest. Maligaro's is really, really good for dps but rat's nest is a better choice overall.

As for alpha's, theres no health on the item. This unique is good for aura stackers who need as little reserve as they can get, and is a good choice for CI builds that do not want to use dream fragment to prevent from being frozen. However, it offers little in resists (25-30% i think) and no health. phase acrobatics/evade already gives u sufficient chance to avoid freeze/chill ailments by preventing possible damage all together and by complimenting your resists.

First post on these forum, so Hello everyone!

Having gained a free respec on the last patch, I now run a small variation of your build, and it's much better than ma previous one which went all the the way to the scion wheel of life and lost many points on the road, but also gained a bit of attack speed thanks to berserk.

So here's my current passive tree at lvl 77:

I plan to finish the Influence cluster but I'm still not sure what to take after. I think I will go for either heavy draw or deadly draw since I'm really lacking on the dps side but I'm not sure which I should focus on. The deadly side is obviously more offensive but I get life on the heavy side. Or maybe should I go for projectile damages for some variation and to get greater benefits from auras?

Some stats and my stuff as reference, if it can help to formulate an answer:

Spoiler

my evasion is around 8-9k with grace lvl 17 on, but I usually run Hatred.

With 6 frenzy charges and Hatred lvl 17 on, the dps is at 4k/s.

Spoiler

With this I mainly run Piety in solo, some 66 maps, and public games in Library, Docks and Catacombs.

Additionnaly, I still struggle a bit with mana. As you can see on the frenzy dps screen shot, I run with 5 ml and my mana pool is quite decent (189 after hatred and clarity reservation), but it's barely enough. I guess the problem is in my dps but I'd like a confirmation for that.

Thanks for any advice!

PS: my two cents for those who struggle versus hard hitters, having blind in your frenzy combo can really help a lot. Without it I would not have been able to kill merciless Dominus (still took me many tries), nor the Dungeon version of Brutus. I have played with it for a long time and ditched it only some days ago for Increased criticial damage.

PPS: forgive my bad english, it's not my mother tong.

don't do that, clarity is too much, and using it with hatred is actually working against you. What you should do instead is take off all 4 nodes of those nodes (blood thirst/mana reserved). and don't run clarity: instead put them into soul siphon (mana per kill).

Also drop the potions you have and find hybrid flasks:
. use three with a granite flaks and a quick silver flask.

as for dps, you went the tanky route. ur combined physical damage is around 110 which is decent, but ur health is around 200% (which is dam good).

spec into deadly draw and that will fix ur dps issues. Also since your tanky enough, try pointblank (the node) out.

for gear your ammi and quiver are good. But u should look into ones with multiplier in the long run

Thanks for your answer,

I have removed those points and put a 1 on mana / kill. Maybe I'll even be able to run without it (my mana problem is more with single target and frenzy). It looks indeed ok to run without clarity (just did a rapid test).
The other points have been used to enter in the deadly draw line and i'll give a try to point blank when I pass another level. I also had to point one point in the 30 intel block because of 10 intel node that I have respec. This is something that will change eventually.

As for the amy, I have something in these lines waiting for me in my stash, though its multiplier is still very low :

I just need to move the lightning resistance somewhere else.
