Thats kind of the point though, how could you do a long race and not have it decided on highest level ranking, without making it stupid?

They do short races for people who dont have time to race for a whole week, and week long races for those with a lot of time to spare, seems perfectly logical to me

Here's something, how about you are completely wrong about playtime = win in this mode and just sit there and realize that top 20 last time was level 75. Notice how level 75 is reachable in less than 2 days played. So obviously it's more about playing consistently and not dying than raw playtime to "win" a race.

that's because i say FIND THE CORRECT EQUILIBRIUM for people who play 1 hour to people who play 27 consecutives hours like nugiyen and company. how you can see only this 4 people who play 27 hours are the first 4 in the list.

that's mean that if you don't want play 27 hours consecutives better don't try it because you will never win.a lose time if you try.

and please don't say the tipics arguments like i play for funny.

if you want play for funny don't need enter in a race (one event based in be the better player making a good build and go whit the correct gear and win, not who play more hours of all will win.) you go to play normal league whit you'r characters.




also that's not mean only give less or more exp in a game like that you can do a lot of modifications by time.
like drop
like monster more strongh and life
like give you less damage
an another 1000 things if you think a bit.

Let's not forget these events are just for fun. For variety from the regular game and regular ladders.

Don’t forget there will be plenty of other events to compete in. The 1 hour, 2 hour and 3 hour events cater for those who can’t play “all week” and offer prizes too. There might be other length events in the future too like 6 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. All the events so far have been to beta test different concepts, levelling patterns, economy progress etc etc.

Also events in the future will also come with different mods associated with them. Like the end game maps, entire events can have mods applied that effect players… the event could have monsters immune to lightning damage, which will encourage different build types etc etc.

Again, try not to get too caught up in nit-picking the current beta events. Events (like the game) will be a continued evolution for many years to come… which is a great thing for PoE 

Do you realize that diminishing XP returns would do literally nothing? The people who played the most and was the most efficient at it would still win. Only they would have harder times reaching higher levels, so what, as you would once you get to a similar level, they would still be ahead of you in Xp in absolute terms.

Anyway this argument is pretty silly. In long races always the people who invest the most has the better chances to win IF they don't screw up (big IF), always. There is no way around that, only isolating characters completely and putting arbitrary playing times would, and then the race would be only a matter of rolling a dice, whoever is more lucky with map RNG's would win.

darn. i need to support this game I wanna try it out before open beta
63 spark totem witch looking for dedicated group for map grinding. Putting in 10+ hours a day at least.

My 2 cents

I have a 9-5 job and a family, my responsibilities have removed me from any competitive aspects of gaming as I just dont have the time. But I understand this...I chose these responsibilities and wouldn't dream punishing others to accommodate myself. These players have made choices and sacrifices to reach these playing levels they are at and are entitled to reap the rewards.

We have the 3 hour races but again the players with more play time will always do better (or at least they should) because they have more time to practice. IMO they have earned that.

This, my friend, is life...people who spend more time doing something, are better at it and earn whatever they achieve. Please stop feeling entitled to things. You are not owed anything, if you want it go out and get it.

I am having a blast with the new economy and trying out my OB toon, and am grateful we have GGG and this great game.

And now my suggestion: (open for discussion)

What if the drop rates were altered?

I would absolutly LOVE it if I entered a "1 week HC Unique Race" where unique drop rates were doubled (like 0.2 rather then 0.1) for the race and we could take it to reg HC after race.

Or..."Gems roll better Quality"
Or..."Increase chance at 20% gems"
Or..."Everyone gets a Chain" <----haha joke

This would really give people like me a great incentive to play these events. (although personally I enjoy the races regardless...I wouldn't mind a Chain though...lol)

Anyway, let me know what you guys think

Problem is: any rule related to any league should make it harder than default, since your characters in these leagues will be moved back to default in the end.
