If you're referring to the one ToG that took almost 9k life, I had Saffell's then, like I've said, poorly done.

Next time it will be either my armour shield with 5 topaz flasks ok Saffell's with granite/jade combo, need to do some calculations first, but I believe armour shield + 5 topaz flasks is the way to go. As he did only 4-5k damage then.

could have been a crit still, remember armor is not that effective vs big hits as small ones, so more armor = diminish returns, and it was almost 7k life not 9k life, because you started from 8xxx iirc and ended at 2xxx. I had stopped the vid a few times. Usually you take 5k or so. And saffell is also 5 max res.

How much did you take with abyssus? I remember it was a LOT, without -max res too, on residence dominus. Such a great dps helm but that mod makes it suck overall imo.
With Saffell's my armour is ~5k.
With armour shield it's 13k.

Might have been crit, next try will be with Saffell's full time or my armour shield, so we'll know for sure.

Yeah, Abyssus gives around 30% more DPS, but... I use it when I storm through Gorge/Plateau maps, hehe.

OK took down notes

You were crit without the saffell's, actually. I am sure it was a crit because you even activated jade flask and the damage disparity is massive!

Enfeeble on in both cases, -30% extra crit dmg from passive tree

Non-crit:- (5k armor, 5 endurance charges on, 82 res, -18 max res)
= around 3300 damage taken

Crit:- (13k armor - OR ~ 30k armor if jade flask had reflexes suffix and is taken into account after his attack animation is started, 77 res, -18 max res)
= around 8000 damage taken (9100 down to 1100 it seems)

My theory is his smash is based off of Vaal smash, which I pretty much confirmed many times is 4k/4k fire / phys and 6k/6k on crit, before any map mods.

Now with math, the first case would seem to be accurate as 4k/4k. The second case, not so much, even with 30k armor, and crit reduction, you should be taking 5-6k damage. I always assumed monster crits are 150% like players, and it always seemed to work in math so far.

All i know is that is one crazy crit lol. And vuln, extra cold / fire / ltn, and extra boss / extra dmg all work on his smash ... were GGG high when designing dominus?
I think I've read somewhere that flask activation doesn't affect the user if it's activated during the attack.

Which would be bullshit.


Dominus in general is made excellent, but it's too hard to manually dodge his ToG (mouse click and move away, or use whirling blades/leap slam).
