Nope, I'm in A2 Merciless and I find they go down in 2-5 hits depending on the monster. If you can get your curses off (I don't have windscream so elemental resistance / frostbite for me) your totems wont even get hit because all mobs are instantly frozen. Even the ones that have cold resist. My bear traps are doing 4k+ dps - I have dex heavy gear atm, and my fire traps are doing about 1200 dps, I can melt any boss or rare creature in about 4-7 seconds.

... now all I need is a GMP. Seriously someone sell me one.
At cruel difficulty, I find it that I don't even need to use bear traps sometimes to kill anything super fast except the last bosses of each act. I have both GMP and LMP, GMP spreads freeze so much faster and hits like a truck if enemies decide to hug it.
uhh am i doing something wrong?

it seems that stacking dex for armors is better than stacking int since traps get much more dps
atm my traps are stuck at ~800 dps cuz i dont have enough dex to level them so which is the right way to go?

also what spells would u use on remote mine? :D

It honestly depends on your gear. I am in dex heavy gear so I have a bear trap that can be leveled to around 130 dex. I also have one balanced around 70-80 dex. The difference between the two is 3,000 dps. The thing is about traps is they are great spike damage, and are good for bosses or tight passage ways, but they are there just to supplement your totems. Even if they do mediocre dps don't stress, your totems and curses are your most important tools at your disposal. Traps are just kinda optional and awesome.

thanks for that
Bear Trap is on the backburner for me. I leveled one but am only running Fire Trap with Increased Duration and Added Chaos Damage. I need to figure out how to manage my skillbar better because there are too many things. We can just put our auras in a weaponswap right? I remember weaponswapping with the first shadow I played and it messed the skillbar all up though..

What do you guys think about heading into the Templar area for Prestidigitation/Inner Force and the -7%mana cost node?

I need some help with fixing up my build and might post a separate thread so it doesn't get lost in here.

Hmm I didn't know totems were that strong. Someone said they die in one hit even in cruel act 3. Wonder if maybe he meant merciless act 3. Then again you can just spam summon totems.
Some crazy bosses by Cruel act 3 would one hit my totems and I leveled them at least a few times. I had a hard time on the Medicine Chest quest in merciless with it too, but maybe just because there was this crazy pack of multiple mini bosses and nowhere to run so I aggroed them all.

2-5 hits still seems right for more normal monsters in merci act 2. You just need to position the totems correctly so they aren't in the middle of mobs. With the right positioning, everything is getting frozen, without it the totems are dying and you are fleeing.

Having the 3rd curse as Projectile Weakness helps keep them alive when positioned correctly too because the ice spears knock enemies back. A lot of stuff will die before it even reaches my totem, and when they get there they meet a trap.

When would it be best to use GMP?

Level 15+?
