[1.x.x/HC/Nemesis] Asta's Lv.85 FiringWitch, HP/Armor, Selfcast, Block/Spellblock, EB
Hi folks,
first of all, thanks for reading my little guide and giving me feedback for this Witch build. I'm going to try to explain all details of this build, 'cuz i was asked several times now, what spec's/setup im usings for my current witch. Since im playing HC, you wont find here a pure DPS focused build. Im focusing my build usually arround maximum survivability. (Like all HC players usually do) FAQ's
Spoiler
Will i be limited to your Spells ?
- No, you can go for any offensive spells you prefer, if you can make the correct colors on the chest. Auras are fixed in 98% of cases. What auras you using ? - Tempest shield (Block rate, dmg imigation), Determination, Clarity Whats your clearspeed for maps/docks (ca.) with your current spellsetup? - 66-68 in less then 10min (alched), 69-71 depends on map. Ive made recently some really ugly maps which took me 20 minutes to bring the counter to less then 20 mobs. Docks are cleared in less then 5 minutes. 72=> dont play, since im only lv84 and dont have a decent map pool/party. Prefering solo play in 95% of cases. What maps i wont be able to do ? - None, i can make any map. But you have to consider, that some maps are not doable completely with certain mods and without any further effort. I.e crematorium with -max res. What maps you dont play? - -max res+added dmg+another dmg modifier i.e.: 30% more, 25% faster, etc. - blood magic+half regen (doable but inefficient and risky) - temp chains with more then 1 damage modifier What maps you play in any case? - any map with 50+iiq and maze/40%+area/40+% magic monster. Statistically, i drop a new map on every of the mentioned one. Thus, riskfactor and reward are usually in the green area. What did you invested for your current gear? - 4-5 Ex arround atm. Do you have a MF setup ? - I've one with 110 iir and one with 60iir23iiq. It depends how much you wanna dumb your char, but these setup are still good. Do you build your spec/current setup around costly/rare uncommon uniques? - I've 3 uniques that i use and these uniques will cost you less then 15 chaos overall. Correction: In Nemesis the rathpith globe is currently f*king expnesive. Look for a good one, not so expensiv; these 1-2ex some ppl expect from this shield are _way_ too much! What are the advantages/disadvantages of your build? - good allround survivability (But honestly, there are allways some situation which are damn close!) - its not expensiv - neither mana or mana regen on any gear required - arround 200+ str -> iron will viable -> good for HP too. - max spellblock, 64 attack block, armor for flat reduction, +2 to max res - mediocre DPS - not so much HP pool against huge bursts. Dont get me wrong, 5k is ok, but.. ;) What are your current stats/expected stats? Lv85 with mediocre gear: Firestorm tooltip DPS: ~1k (note: this is for one fireball!) 7,4k Armor 4,8k HP 1,5k Mana 64 block, 75 Spellblock Lv90 with good gear: Firestorm ~1,3k 14k Armor (if your set have 3,6k armor with all parts, you will end up with 14k armor) 5,3-5,8k HP Mana will be enough anyway, i think. 65 block, 75 Spellblock Guide in Details: Build uniques
Spoiler
Rathpith Globe
Rathpith will provide you with a huge manapool, spelldmg, life and spellblock. Fits very perfect in this build! It also got a pretty good base block chance and because its not enough it has a good res roll as well. Stone of Lazwhar Adds another 50% spellblock, has DPS increase and mana. Sadly, you will loose this HP slot. Moonsorrow Pretty mediocre wand, if you find enough dex on gear you can search for a better one. This Wand is used, because of the Additional Blind gem you get for free. Gem setups/links
Spoiler
Wand - Flame totem + Faster Casting + Enfeeble -> Used for Blind - This will allow you to facetank almost every hard hitting Mob, i.e Blacksmith. The blind usually procs instant. Helm - Tempest Shield + Iron Will + Reduced Mana(can be with q10) + Life leech - Removes all small hit high cast speed mobs from the game for you, i.e. void bearers, apes, bugs Chest setup 1: Firestorm(q10 or q20, dont bother with any else) - Concentrated Effect - Iron will - life leech (high q prefered) - fire penetration setup 2 (MF): Firestorm - Increased Duration - Item Rarity - Life Leech - Fire penetration (Carefully: Very Dangerous against lightning thorns) setup 3 (half Regen): Remove Fire penetration and add reduced mana from helm setup 4 (no regen): Remove Iron will, put blood magic from boots in setup 5 (temp chains): Remove Iron Will, put Increased Duration from boots in Comment: Firestorm itself fits into the category of DPS by many small hits. Thus, its usually dangerous to play against lightning thorns, since these reflect a flat amount for each hit (which can be block by Spellblock). Nevertheless, using Firestorm + Faster Casting + Increased duration is a setup, which is too much DPS created by amount of hit. For safe processing, you have to increase the damage on hit via iron will, added chaos damage or others. Elemental reflect is in both cases no problem. Gloves - Determination + Purity + Clarity + Reduced Mana - Purity is just for elemental weakness Maps, because im not so much overstacked in Res. Without ele weakness, you run tempest shield + clarity + determination Boots - Blood Magic + Molten Shell + Inc Duration + Elemental weakness Shield - Lightning Warp - Faster Casting - Reduced Duration - Oh yeah baby, finally an almost instant teleport. You will love it! (Desync wasnt a problem so far) Current Gear

Spoiler
Tooltip is showing (5L + Itemrarity):
From cast till the end of the skill, overall Fireballs raining down: 2.4 seconds duration/0.12 = 20 Fireballs From these 20 Fireballs, in average 6-10 Fireballs hitting my marker: AVG hits per Cast: 8 Each Fireball hits for 476-715, thus the average Damage would be: (476+715)/2 = 595 (This values is arround what the tooltip is saying) From Cast of the skill till the end of the skill, we have a time of 2.4 seconds (duration) + 0.66 seconds (cast time) = 3.06 seconds Thus, the overall DPS for one cast would be: 8hits*595AVG_DMG/3.06 = 1555 DPS for one cast The interesting part, which makes it now really strong is that you not only have one Firestorm you going to have more Firestorms overlapping: Duration_of_skill/cast_speed = Amount of Firestorms overlapping 2.4/0.66 = 3.63 -> 3 Overlapping Firestorms First Cast: 0.66 seconds -> 1st Firestorm 2nd Cast: 1.32 seconds -> 2nd Firestorm 3rd Cast: 1.98 seconds -> 3rd Firestorm Hence, after 2 seconds of casting, our Firestorm will do 3*1555 DPS = 4665 DPS Thats it for the moment! I will add from time to time something. Maybe some vids (dont have good PC, so not sure), Leveling process and stuff. A death can always happen in HC, so i hope im long enough alive ;) Best Regards Asta Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you. " FP is allways good for leveling and further progress; choosing firestorm in the end for my main skill is just a personal choice. Like mentioned, if you can get the DEX on gear and the right color you can go with FP in late game as well. But the tree is pretty much designed arround str/int without considering any dex notes. Will add a leveling progress maybe today or tomorrow, depends how much time i've available. E1: I wrote explicit that Firestorm was a personal choice; i want to let ppl some decision by themselve regarding their main attack skill. This is because many people dont feel Firestorm as viable skill for late/end game. Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you. Feedback is appriciated. Especially, if you have at some point the feeling to hit a wall and cannot proceed. I'll try then to consider it in the leveling up process.
Thanks! Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you.

Now that's the kind of tank witch I could enjoy ! Not that gear-dependent, beefy, and with good mobility. Will probably give a go in standard when I feel like re-rolling again.
A little gameplay video would be awesome, if I dare asking for one :) I'm just a little concerned about the survive-ability of this build in the early stages, that is, before you leave the witch area to get the life nodes from the Templar. Great job. To learn is to live... Last edited by Stakhanov#1261 on Nov 12, 2013, 11:31:15 AM

" You're right. Before going to templar tree to reach certain points, you dont gain much benefit from passive (except of INT) Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you. Last edited by Astarte911#6271 on Nov 13, 2013, 3:28:29 AM

i like reading HC build, cause it means you think about every little thing not just DPS.
So, since I am just playing this game I play SC league first. What would you change if you play SC, to give little more DPS? I will really appreciate it if you post skill tree build for SC/DPS version of your build, cause i want to survive at the late end game too not just marching through cruel and then die a lot at merciless. I really like firestorm too btw, that rainy fireballs...woohooo |

Checked and finished the leveling process in normal. Feedback and criticism is appreciated.
" Added Banditrewards in my guide. " Even if you are playing SC, i wouldnt change that much. You need to consider, that HC/SC players are not this different. Both parties looking to get high level quickly. Thus, HC need to never die and SC need to "allways" never die. Or do you think the level 100 people in SC did these achievement with glascannons? But honestly, i can imagine a few DPS based builds, can't make you suggestion this weekend, since im busy. Going to check it at sunday noon, maybe ive a passive/gemsetup/gearsetup arround this build which is more DPS oriented! Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you.
