This would be plain wrong because:
1. Some builds can use different classes. For example, Poutsos Flicker Nuke is originally a Shadow build (an it fist shadow's theme), but you CAN use this build as Witch or Ranger or even Duelist, and differences will be quite negligible.
2. Some "best" builds for certain classes could be not so best in general statistics.

I guess i meant most optimal but i do understand that mostly any class can play any build(whether less or more efficiently is a different story). With only 5 builds listed(and a sixth under "previous top 5") I would be interested in seeing a few more builds that you deem worthy, looking through all the different class forums and determining whether a build is decent is harder for less experienced players such as myself.

There are tons of builds, and some arent even posted on forums (albeit they are great in endgame). My build, for example, has almost same potential as Poutsos' nuke build, or can be used for Reave instead.. Or Spectral Throw.. 2 different builds that share pretty same gear, skills, goals and playstyle... I actually think that builds present among top5, should all be really DIFFERENT!

Here are my personal qualifications for what a constitutes a tier 1 build which I think many people can at least partially agree with:

1-Have ways to mitigate or completely nullify reflect
2-Have enough survivalbility (via life/blocking/dodging/regen/armor) to progress extremely high levels 95+ with low or zero death count - this ties in (1)
3-Be able to do 99% of map mods/combinations (excluding perhaps blood magic) including the combination :
-25 max resist, double reflect, no regen, 35 monster damage, monster gmp. Ideally, also able to fight bosses under extremely hard mods.
4-Able to absolutely destroy(in terms of dps) 77/78 maps even solo


Any build that meets the first 4 criteria is undoubtedly and unquestionably tier 1 in my books. I would also like to add that providing aura support , especially dps auras like wrath, anger, hatred, and haste vastly increases group clear speed.
If I missed a crucial point, please chime in.

Well, all those criterias are applied to absolute endgame with really freaking (mirror-worthy) gear. In my opinion, truly powerful build should also be able to feel well in average gear, and be able to run MF. Without those 2, i cant call build really viable because end game is actually all about MFing. Without good loot you wont be able to upgrade your gear, and running MF farmer to actually get gear for your "endgame" pimp seems lame for me. Players dont start game with mirror-worthy gear, and if build works fine only with godly gear (and dont work with average equipment), i cant cal it viable either.

As well as i know, my build, or Poutsos' flicker nuke fits all those criterias, if not desynced.
But if you think that criteria 2- should work even if desynced, sorry, there is just one build - Aegis Aurora. All others, as far as i know, will die when desynced vs hard mods.

GL to survive serious desync against reduced max res map with elemental mobs without going full tank....
