[Release]Ingame Itemlevel and DPS Display using Autohotkey
" I think either you have trouble reading, or don't understand what this is. I have not heard of any deleted accounts for using this, and your displeasure with what remains unknown to you has no bearing on anything in this thread. This in no way gives an advantage to players, if ilevel and seeing dps is an advantage, you are playing the game wrong. Last edited by pbishop#6196 on Nov 12, 2013, 3:21:29 PM

" Extract from Section 6 of the official Terms of Use, "Restrictions: Under no circumstances, without the prior written approval of Grinding Gear Games, may you: (b) Modify or adapt (including through third parties and third party tools) the game client or its data, other than in the normal course of POE gameplay as permitted in accordance with the Licence. (c) Utilise any automated software or ‘bots’ in relation to your access or use of the Website, Materials or Services." Does it say anything about advantages or disadvantages? NEWP. I think you should learn to read. It's not an issue of whether or not it provides an advantage or not, it's merely using 3rd party software to "access... the... Materials or Services." Am I having trouble reading, AM I? My words are poetry and thus not subject to spellcheck or the laws of grammar.

" Doesn't modify or adapt the game client or its data. This proves my point that you have no idea what it does. " Not a bot, only shows item level or dps, it does not automate game play. Bots can play the game when you are not around. That is not what this does. And it is not automated, because you have to manually tell the game to show you the itemlevel. " It doesn't access anything. There is no access, it simply sends keystrokes to the client. This is not what "access" means in this part. If it really means access in this case, then keyboards are against the TOS. In a brief comparison of logic, using a shortcut in internet explorer to access the website or specific parts of it is against the TOS in your terms. Which is a 3rd party program that accesses the Website. But, the real part that is meant here is anything that has access to what you the user does not have access to. " So yes, you are having trouble reading. |
|
" I think you are. It's accessing the contents of what you have stored in your Windows clipboard from when you hit Ctrl-C and then displaying that in it's own box over top of the client. None of those seem to breech the ToS as I read it, and I'm confused why you would even fight against something that would be so universally useful to all players. |

Section 6 Article (c) Utilise any automated software or ‘bots’ in relation to your access or use of the Website, Materials or Services.
Can you say that it is not automated software that you use in relation to your access or use of the materials or services? I'm not fighting against anything.. Just interpreting the ToU.. Under no circumstances, without the prior written approval of Grinding Gear Games, may you use 3rd party software in relation to PoE. My words are poetry and thus not subject to spellcheck or the laws of grammar.

" It does not send keystrokes to game client at all. The fuction for copying item data to clipboard is a built in feature of POE it self. " This rule here may not apply to my script at all. Why not you ask?. Reason being as it is not automated as you say. Sure it does all the dps calc for you. But thats not what they ment by this. What they mean is BOTS as in doing tasks as playing the game or automatically posting being used to spam kind of tools. Also on the other hand this script does not interact with the game at all. It uses data which was sent to your clipboard by the client. If they did not intend for that data to be used. You have to ask your self Why did they have the function built in to the POE client if it was not going to be used for things like this. But another thing. The script has been out all most a week now. It has gained alot of feedback. 10+ pages worth. No one from GGG has posted any thing about this. So in my eyes No news is Good news. If was something they did not want happening they would have step in long ago and removed the topic. As I put in my opening post at the bottom if this a TOS issue just delete the topic. They are more then welcomed to and I wont try to share my work. Tied of trying to figure out iLVL or DPS in game. If the script modified game code, injected it's own into the game, or in any way manipulated the actions taking place in the game or it's intended function, then yes, it would be a breech of the ToS. But the ToS does not forbid a script from accessing memory in use by Windows (not by PoE) and reformatting/displaying that data (in this case a box overlayed above the game client). That would be like the ToS saying my email client couldn't prompt me that I had an unread email (the memory accessed and the nature of the display makes this an accurate analogy).
All that said, if GGG really wanted to make this a breech of the ToS they could simply modify the Ctrl-C function from being a basic Windows "copy" of some text values to a more internal function. But I don't see why they would do that. Frankly, I don't know why they haven't added this feature in already, even if just as an option that isn't turned on by default. |

Ok, so a question about how to script works or is suppose to work? Are we able to identify any item on the ground without picking it up? Or does the script not work like that? I know we can Ctrl-C when its in our inventory but I was hoping we could identify the ilvl without picking it up.

" That would be to much automation. The script only works off what POE gives it. Meaning if the Item is unid the info copied to clipboard would reflect that. So you would have to ID the item to view it. AS for item on ground. You still need to put them in your inventory and use ctrl+c to view the info. But this wont let you cheat as items till need to be ided before allowing full use of the dps part. It can only give you info on what it can see. Tied of trying to figure out iLVL or DPS in game. " Ok, fair enough! I am enjoying the script though so good work to those that made it happen. |
