[1.0.2] Tri Element Trapper

I know my last post said I was going to wait a couple days to change the guide, but there was no reason to wait. Deerstalkers with Shock Nova already far outweighs what Lightning Trap was doing, and my Shock Nova is only level 10 at the time of writing this.

The passive tree remained exactly the same, the only change was moving Ice Nova to gloves, putting on Deerstalkers, and setting up the 4L of Shock Nova-Ele Prolif-Multi Traps-Reduced Duration.

Having Shock Nova with Multi Traps is quite interesting. When thrown, they explode in 3 circles that look like the rings used in the Olympics. A few places overlap with each other, and if a monster should be caught in the middle of an overlap, it's quite a bit of damage.

Hey there!

One of those fun coincidences in that I've ended up running an almost identical build -- except I'm using the Ondar's guile keystone and the Static blows passives. I went around the top highway to get them and then down to EE after that.

Any reason you decided to forgo getting Static blows? I felt I couldn't hit anything like enough chance to shock stack with the only average chance to crit.

I have an 88% chance to shock when I toss my Shock Nova trap. I don't think spending 10-15 points or whatever it would take to get 20% more chance (which would bring my total into the low 90s) would be all that worth it.

***Updated the guide with a brand new video. Level 70 Pier Map. I found a little bit better software to record and edit with this time so it looks a bit more clean than the last video. Hope you enjoy.

Any particular reason as to why you play on Domination rather than Nemesis?
I'm going poor and insane trying to RGBB my Deerstalkers!

I've never really been a fan of Hardcore modes in any ARPG. Dying happens in these games no matter what build or how strong you are, it's inevitable. I just figure I'm the type of person that would reach level 80-something, die to a desync or disconnect and never play the game again. I happen to enjoy PoE a lot, and don't want to give myself a reason to quit the game.

And suddenly I feel lucky. I was kinda angry I spent a whole stack to get mine to RGBB, but now I'm happy I got it that cheaply. ^^

On another topic arkon, you say it's the crits from Fire Trap that does (or at least did before Shock Nova) the most damage, so why Increased Burning Damage? Does that go on the crits?

Shock Nova is a breath of fresh air compared to Lightning Trap. Not only does it have a higher chance to shock, but it also does some pretty legit damage, Lightning Trap was a small little poke.

That being said, Fire Trap is still your nuke. It easily out damages both Shock Nova and Ice Nova. The reason for Increased Burning Damage gem is because when Fire Trap crits, and ignites the surrounding enemies, Increased Burning Damage causes your ignites to deal a hell of a lot more damage.
