I agree for this type of event trading should be disabled, but I dont think its unfair if everyone has trade enabled. Your really just disadvantaging yourself if you dont do it, rather than the other way around. It also can delay you if you spend too much in town though so be careful.

Honestly though, I had a lot more fun in this solo race with trading enabled, I get really bored in the other solo races because less people come online (on mumble) and there is less engagement between the people that do show up.
Rather than disabling trading, I would probably just play real party events (the real problem is I dont like the solo type events because I get bored, trading is good for me but I dont think it reflects the theme of the solo type event). Its really nice that there are some party events this week, Im looking forward to them

A solution to trading may be disallowing it until say level 15 or so. That way it cuts out all the bullshit that could go on with people feeding starter scrolls/gems at the very beginning of the race.

The only exploit then would be two racers playing for a couple hours, and then one of them turning all their good items over to the other player at around the 2 hour mark. It sounds like no one would bother, but if one (or more) players knew they couldn't catch up to the leaders, it doesn't seem that unlikely if they just want to help out their friend.

Even with all that aside, a few people playing with voice chat gives a huge advantage as far as item trade, compared to spamming global chat or whatever the alternative would be.

That said, trading kept it interesting this race, and I too get really really bored in solo races at about the halfway point.

Still came in 8th overall despite all my setbacks, where have all the regular racers gone?

If we are going to keep having solo races, I would really like to see some like "Marauder Only Solo Race" and cycle through the classes across the events.

I still think a white item only solo race could have interesting results. Cant complain about not getting move speed anything if no one else does, and I doubt many would be one shotting everything, expect maybe summoner army's. Not that you can get much summons up in a 3 hour race.

why? why at all? every race is basically every class, class only... in that the prizes are mostly based only on whatever class you choose to play. if in OB they start running 6 regular races per week, you could just choose yourself to play a different class each day?

Once you hit cruel the area levels change slowly and it's more important to get certain items.

On normal the level changes almost each area so it's useless to trade if you get better items 10 minutes later.

yes, in party races, party races are for all the gimmicks and tricks wherein you use a friend to improve your performance... SOLO races are EXACTLY THAT, SOLO. the fact that someone does something in party, doesn't mean it's okay in solo, ... in fact the opposite IT PRECISELY MEANS IT WOULD NOT BE OKAY.

I think, i would be a great idea to prize first person on cruel diff. with demigod.

Even if this seems to be a 'solution' to take out some rng flavour from the game, it even adds more dependence from rng luck instead, IMHO... If all you get is white, you will have not only no access to mods like runspeed, but also can only rely on the right drops at every right time - if you have NO access to improvements on your gear, you have to replace the parts very frequently, and you can only get your stats from a very limited item pool and from passive skills. All this together seems very odd to me, just like 'grab your first weapon, and the drops from Hillock (as only gear) and see how far it brings you...

yep, to see how far you can make it! Thats what the game is anyway right? But yea, every time I bring that idea up I get shot down, not a popular idea, it is.

I would just like to state my unending hatred of Timezones, having just missed the event by 24 hours

1st December event took place on Nov 30th in EU.. grrr arghh.

Edit: And then he realises that 2nd Dec race starts in 10 minutes even though its the 1st *BRAIN MELTING*
