[1.0.X] [Marauder/Duelist] Facebreaker + BoR + Aegis Aurora | DPS & tank

Hi, Very nice build and it's working very well without Aurora Avenger.

My question is regarding:
"
Added DPS and defence (shield, RRR):

Cast when Damage Taken - Molten Shell - Iron Will.

Cast when Damage Taken is levelled up this time in order to make molten shell more powerful.

Molten Shell armor buff and a buffer against physical damage. Also provides some damage.

Iron Will - good damage boost for Molten shell.

How useful is it?
The reason I am asking is because I doubt Molten Shell would be very useful for us. And on hard hitting bosses we will probably have blind + enfeeble on them so we would avoid almost all of their attacks. So we would have to be hit hard and often for Molten Shell to actually do something.

Wouldn't a secondary CWDT (lvl1) with Summon Skeleton or Cold Snap, or both, work better?

Hi!

I agree that Molten Shell is meh. Looks like it does nearly nothing. Just use what works best for you. I mentioned sevral options in the guide, including tempest shield. Summon skeletons and cold snap are really good ideas.
Well, I have tested out abit and Cold Snap seems useless. It casts it but I never seem to freeze a mob. On the other hand the summon skeleton works somewhat, they get 1shotted by everything but I guess they serve their purpose of taking a hit instead of me.

I have read the Tempest Shield post but it's not viable, atleast not in Domination and not without over complicating things. Resists will clearly be a problem (especially in elemental weakness map) without Purity, not to mention the fact that I think it would be wiser to invest in some Chaos resist rather the benefit of extra 4% block (tho the added damage might count for something especially if we link it to an Iron Will gem).

What I would love to see in this build is Arctic Armour(or RF) but we would need atleast 40 mana/s regeneration to keep lvl1 AA. The damage reduction would not be important but keeping the mobs in melee range perma chilled is sweet :)
Can I use this build with my templar, since he's already level 80? and i'm not quite sure why we need the aegis aurora shield.

Hello, I am new to this build, played for about 1 week but I managed to get to lvl 77 on my marauder, so I guess I could give you some advice.

We don't NEED Aegis Aurora from the begining, heck for maps up to level 70 we don't need Rainbowstriders or Stone of Lazwhar. Lioneye's Remorse is an excellent shield choice and if you find a hard hitting elemental boss, you could take Saffell's Frame. Or you could even work with Crest of Perandus or Daresso's Courage.

Strictly comparing Aurora and Lioneye, Aurora gives us more elemental resistance(that is very much needed for this build), while Lioneye gives us life and a hefty portion of our armor (~10% phys damage reduction). Stat wise Lioneye wins but the proc from Aurora seems to be OP.

Also you could use the build with a templar, it would have less life, more damage and 3 wasted passive points.
Thanks, I can afford an aegis so I guess I'll get one. About the Templar build, it'll be the same exact thing except I'll be starting from the Templar part of the tree, right?
@Meme
Yes, pretty much, something like this would have the minimum impact on wasted points I think.
Spoiler

Fun fact, looking at this I noticed that this build could work even with a Scion and a little better then templar, because we loose some life nodes but we "waste" only 4 points instead of 5 like with templar, and the points are not actually wasted (unlike templar where 3points are wasted). It actually gives us 2 strong options, for 4 points we can either have 33% melee phys damage or 15% melee phys damage and 18% elemental resistance.

Also, my advice, don't buy Aurora yet. Try the build 1st, see if you like it and then invest in it. Not to mention that for the proc to be effective you need the Rainbowstride (for bigger ES pool and spell block) and Stone of Lazwhar (for spell block).

Wondering whether BoR or Abyssus + Coil would be the best here.
Considering Facebreaker scaling on + X-Y physical damage, Abyssus should provide about 30% more final DPS.
On the other hand, BoR provides more HP and Block + essentially a 7L.

Opinions ? :p
Is 13k damage good?
I laugh at pooping dogs, just to see them get confused.

I think BoR still remains the best and I will tell you why:
- sure Abyssus would provide DPS increase but that's about it.
- we would have to buy a 6L chest and even a bad one is more expensive then BoR.
- BoR provides us Life and most important 15% block and we know that block is one of the core elements of this build.
- BoR provides 10% to gain endurance charge when you block...great synergy with build.
- the 7th link that BoR provides is Blind. Now it might seem useless but actually it's part of the build core. Blind + lvl 5 Enfeeble(20quality helps even more) from CWDT provides us something like 90% evasion (if my math is right) (And that's the reason why we don't take Unwavering Stance)

Depends, you need to provide more details? What level are you? Is the DPS unbuffed (aka in town without auras on)? What are the levels of your skill gems (what quality)?

For example my character:
- lvl 79, took all dps boost nodes (except Holy Strength) and I don't have lvl 20gems, just 17% quality on my Infernal Blow.
- my DPS in town is 12k, my DPS with auras 16.8k.
