I was hoping to make this build work with a 5-L like the original post suggests. I'm running the CI version (Witch start). I was able to start using the 5-L at level 53. I think I may just be in an awkward spot where my damage and defenses are out of sync; I can't crit enough to wipe things off the map, and getting into range makes things dangerous.

I guess I just wonder: is there any hope of proceeding in this build with a 5L (no life leech)? Besides getting a Chayula and potentially the anti-freeze rings, any tips for how to get used to playing with ES in general, with next to no armor etc.?

Well, you have to get use to popping granite flasks every now and then. Since this build allows you to crit so much, you should get flasks that have the Mod: Critical Strikes recharges 1 charge.

honestly, your build won't really allow that many crits. I was that same spec and had to farm a ton of regrets to change more into the witch tree. The problem is the consistency of crits with that build. You're getting more crit multiplier talents than anything.

I switched to basically what was posted and currently have 88.5% crit with each spectral throw. It's much easier to deal with anything that comes along, and I really just don't get Vaal's Pact

Thats basically my build, but I am wondering if that new build will get me more crits, I need the OP to update the tree to level 70-100 because I have no idea where I am going, so Im stuck

this is what I plan to do for my "final" build, I'm about to be 80 and tweaking my resists/rings currently.

It's very smooth damage, I run into mana issues running discipline but it's not too bad. I've considered dropping some of the crit talents since 15% crit is only ~1% crit and I'll probably invest in Gifts from Above soon.

I can't imagine needing more crit, my current dagger has 9.37% crit on it and once I'm able to get one with close to 10% or higher my Spectral Throw should be close to 100%, more than anything I notice the miss rate though.
