[1.0.4]Scion - Incinerate Tank - Mind over Matter, EB, almost Max Block | Facetank a lot of stuff
" Thanks for the chart but I think I am a little confused as to your axis... would you mind defining "Cast Speed" for me? Could you convert this (or tell me how to convert it) to more accessible units? Perhaps casts per second or cast speed increase? Edit: Nevermind, I figured out your conversions. For those interested, here are similar plots using the variables from the skill panel. http://i.imgur.com/IZ2sU9m.png Cast Speed Increase http://i.imgur.com/hTGNcC8.png Casts Per Second Last edited by WhyWhyZed on Dec 2, 2013, 4:38:13 PM

" Cybil's Paw is the only item in the game to offer life gain on *spell* hit. This is the core of the build and what keeps you alive as you stand still and facetank incinerate spam enemies. The focus on block does a few things. 1. More synergy with Cybil's Paw since it provides spell damage on block. ~94% spell damage if you hit the 78% block cap using The Anvil. This is a lot of spell damage and lets you be very tanky at the same time. 2. Elemental reflect and lightning thorns can both be blocked by spell block. If you're not careful, especially in Nemesis, you will destroy yourself on thorns. A fraction of a second with an Incinerate hitting 2-3 thorns and you'll just disintegrate without spell block. Spell block gives you enough time to react and sometimes just keep Incinerating. I *highly* recommend you level with a Stone of Lazhwar. With the Stone, you can get 30%+ spell block pretty easily and it just makes a night/day sort of difference when you clip a mob with thorns. 3. High block + tempest shield does a nice bit of passive damage, especially against fast attacking mobs like voidbears, squirrels, and tentacled miscreations. Further, you can link your tempest shield to a mana leech or life leech for some additional passive regen. Or, you can link with curse on hit + elemental weakness for passive application of your main curse. Last edited by xythian on Dec 2, 2013, 4:58:47 PM

" Thank you so much for this, that makes a ton of sense. IGN PoopyPotter

A quick idea... has anyone considered using Proj Weakness as the primary curse? Flammability is good and does slightly more damage, but the knockback effect is pretty huge with ~10 projectiles per second. Suggestions?

Wouldn't Life on Hit be better than Life Leech for this build?
Or does the Life on Hit support gem not work like Cybil's Paw in regards to Incinerate? |
|
" LGoH works with attacks, not spells. Life Leech is the only option.
this build was the funniest ive played so far in Poe. no doubt. I actually died as lvl 50 today in cruel on a white guard shieldcharger in Ebony barracks. I have no idea what happened but I guess he critted as I had 1900 hp and very low armor.
I might try this again Ive acquired some gear. Superb fun. but I would suggest raising way more HP nodes than I did. Thx for giving me a nice run up to 50 atleast =)
Hey OP great build! I leveled a new char just for this. I'm at 76 now with 1250ish DPS and seemed to have hit a ceiling.
Since this build's core item is Cybil's Paw, it becomes hard to increases DPS after a certain point. I've gotten 20% quality for incinerate and its linked gems but that's only gotten me to ~1250 with Lightning Coil. I can get DPS up to ~1400 with Infernal Mantle but that drops survivability by a lot. Any suggestions as to how I can increase DPS further without having to give up survivability?
" my thought would be grabbing all life and life regen nodes along the way get a rise of the phoenix shield and sustain RF less spell block though, and probably your incinerate itself does less damage, but you will gain another source of close range damage
" Welcome to the wonderful world of lightning thorns. You probably had a Stage 3 Incinerate rolling and the guard got thorned by an off-screen mage and you insta-gibbed yourself. I think it has happened to all of us. You have to be extremely ridiculously careful, stack spell block, and/or just run past all that content. |
