Design Philosophy of Affixes

Having something scale off character level is dumb.

Having something scale off a totally different stat isn't necessarily, but is nevertheless best reserved for uniques, not rare items. (For example, I've got a Unique Design coming my way, and the one mod I want on it is "Adds Evasion equal to your current Life.")

that's dumb. kind of on the dull side too
Don't forget to drink your milk 👌
I liked it in Diablo 2. I don't see it as "dumb", maybe redundant. I liked finding items with those stats while leveling a new character.

I agree that more cross-stats can be potentially interesting.

bump just because I want this to see the light of day.
yeah diablo 3's items weren't specialised at all, and definitely one of the problems with the game.

not only did the best gear all have the same mods, Blizzard went full retard and made even spellcasters use weapon dps to calculate 'spell' damage, further homogenizing gear

Dear GGG, please make Mac version
Still wanting this to happen. Boring mods are boring.
Would love a reaction from the devs on this.
The current mod affix pool is very limited in terms of diversity and usefulness.
Path of the "Life + 3 resists"
I remember in D2 certain items could roll pretty specific class mods. Much less broad than implicit mods in poe. 2 to bow skills / Martial arts gloves, War cry Javs and all the class items especially had very powerful mods.

Not sure how it would be implemented in poe, but it was something that made treasure hunting in D2 more fun for me.

It could be implemented very easy:
- Viper Strike gems in this item gain +1 level

or for the passive tree:
- Increases the bonus life from life nodes taken by an extra 1%
- Increases your attack speed with swords by 2% for every "Sword" node taken.

More +skills would be good. For example, +2 to trap skills on gloves.

Question, how overpowered would it be if items could spawn with +3 to a specific skill? That means items could potentially spawn with +1 to all skills, +2 to a skill type and +3 to a specific skill for a total of +6 to a specific gem. Naturally, the restrictions on which slots and base items such mods can spawn on would remain. And presumably all 3 properties would be prefixes, so you'd be giving up any other potential prefix (all damage mods, life leech, ES, movespeed, etc.). I think it could work, but maybe I'm wrong.
