I mean, take gloves for instance. Getting the 'of grandmastery' suffix (14-16 attack speed) can be of paramount importance, as attack speed cannot roll on other 'regular' armor pieces.

Is there a list of what mods can be found on the different slots?

I've read the information on the wiki but sadly it doesn't indicate which mods can appear on which types of items. Searching the wiki for "crafting" or "helmets"/"gloves"/"boots" etc doesn't help either.
http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Item_Affix

For example, I know that the higher +movement speed mods are pretty much limited to boots - I've never seen +Move speed on gloves, for example - in the same way as Increased attack speed only appears on gloves (and weapons). But is there a list of which affixes are "possible" for each item type? I would love to know if there is.

thanks!

there's a sheet of someone who had analysed and collected data on this topic:

cant say, how uptodate it is, though.

I have a question regarding how the mod roll is made. It might be covered somewhere in this thread but I haven't found an answer yet, so here goes.

Assume with 'horizontal' I mean 'mod type' (e.g. movement velocity) and with 'vertical' I mean 'mod level' (e.g. lowest Runner's or Highest Cheetah's).

Say I have an item with 5 mods, two prefixes and three suffixes, such as shown in the example below.

Example:

NB: itemlevel 77

If I were to exalt this item, I would get a prefix. Will it then..
A) do a horizontal roll and then a vertical roll to determine mod type and mod level?
or
B) 'pool' all the available levels of all available mods in a giant list, before rolling one of them?

The original post seems to imply the former, but I would like to know for certain. This is relevant for the odds of getting the modifier I want.

Continuing with the example boots given, I obviously want movement speed on them. Using roll method A would provide a 1-in-4 chance to roll a movement velocity mod (providing some mods are not more or less rare than others, that is). Roll method B would provide a much lower chance to roll movement speed, as it only has 5 levels and something like %armor has 6 levels.

A) No idea how it rolls and in what sequence
B) It may be that some mods/rolls are weighted to be more common than others, the same way how chaos resists is supposedly a rarer roll than other suffixes, but we don't have the exact figures and cannot know for sure.

I have the following item and I am trying to determine when I should Orb of Alchemy it so I am still able to use it after. Right now the Required level is 56 which is my level and it's ilvl is 68.

So how high up might the required level go when I Alchemy it?

Newbie here, when crafting white items, how does one pick out which white item to use as the foundation of the item? I see lots of people say to use thickets for bows and imbued wands but give no reason for this...can some enlighten me as to why they would choose these items to start out instead of the higher damage counterparts? Are there some items that can only be crafted from these?

The higher the ilvl of the item (hold the item on your cursor and type "/itemlevel" in the chat widow) the higher the rolls can go..
Thickets are the higher ones together with imperial bows for example..thickets also usually roll triple elemental suffixes (cold, fire, lightning) dealing damage with all elements.
Inbued are high ones, as are prophecy wands..but imbued are faster (viable for non spell dealing chars)

Here's 2 lists, one concisting of weps and one for armors

wrong:

If your Alch rolls affixes with an level >56, then the highest of these mods will define the new level req. This can of course go up to 68, as example for an "Incandescent" prefix.
