It's a hard decision when it's a permanent reward, and there doesnt seem to be real numbers crunched on 8% ias vs 18% physical.

http://wolfr.am/1agygIQ

That compares the percent damage increase between the two rewards with 69% attack speed from passives (which is how much the final build link in the OP has), 4 frenzy charges, and 44% attack speed from a level 20 Faster Attacks. The break-even point is 424.25% increased Physical damage; if you have less than that the Phys Damage is more DPS, if you have more the attack speed is more DPS.

So with 292% increased physical damage from passives and 76% from level 20 Reave, the physical damage is about 18% more effective than the attack speed.

Edit: That doesn't account for flat ele damage bonuses, but it does account for ele damage via physical conversion (eg Hatred). It also doesn't account for armor curving (bigger slow hits do more damage than faster smaller ones).

Difference is probably small enough that you can pick either without worrying about it too much. As mentioned before, phys has the benefit of more effectively increasing your leech, while attack speed is a tiny bit safer against reflect and gives a little smoother damage.

thanks for the calculs. i'm gonna put this in the FAQ section.

Does anyone has any tips how much Alpha's Howl and Carcass Jack are sold for in Domination? Are they even available there?

Saw you updated the gear/gem section Perz. Very nice!

I've looked into getting an Alpha's Howl, buyouts are usually 4 ex for average or below average ones, so you could probably get one for 3-3.5 ex or so without too much trouble.
I'm having trouble finding good ES gear to lvl with I'm lvl 35 and am not getting lucky with drops and no one is trading anything, any tips?
So I've read through pretty much every post in this thread, and I don't think anyone's mentioned this. It seems most people run 1 granite and 0 jade flasks, I take it this is for mitigating physical reflect? The lots of very fast small hits you reflect to yourself would definitely be mitigated very well by the 6k armor but aside from that it seems quite useless (as a evasion Jade which be much much more effective at total damage reduction, especially when you're fighting a big number of mobs).

granite flasks are only needed for reflect, yes.
although fast reflect hits don't bother us. the problem is when i deal huge dmg in 1 hit (i.eg. a high crit vs multiple enemies in 1 aoe reave attack). so before i run into a horde of phys reflect, i pop a grantite flask and kill them safely.

Okay small update. I made an oos macro and play a bit more def. Still got desyncs but I just run away immediately. No way to hope it will sync again. Just run and after a while I make an /oos (not to closely else you will get ported back into the monsters). Also changed some gear and gems.

I'm beyond Piety now (died 2 times there) I would say it's going okay. My biggest issue is getting enough ES and getting a decent chest. I only have a 3L for my attacks and it's really a lack of dmg if I would be able to link 5.

I'm 54 now but still need 16 more skill points for VP and CI. How did you made that level 67 skill tree? Am I still getting 7 skill points (that would be the number I would need to get the 67 skill tree which includes a few more nodes after CI) after Piety until Act 2 merc from quests? If I calculated right I would get 82 skill points at 67 and after being done with act 1 merc. Oh well guess you already calculated those in if I would be done with merc completely heh.

Also getting a bit of problem with int/str requirements for the gem. Should I just not level them up? how do you deal with the requirements for lvl 20? I just need to have + str/int on the equipment for that?

I'm up to Piety, lvl 61. Still life untill 64.
It's easy and fun. 18% life leech, 4500 dps, resists capped.

Desync is annoying as always, but manageable.

I'm gonna need a good evasion gloves with fire, lightning resists, and accuracy in order to ditch my resists+ life rings. That's gonna be the worst part, cuz everything else is taken care of.

Love the build, and it's only gonna get better. CI at 64, good claw at 66,and my leet 6S5L at 70.

64 now, went CI. I have 2200 ES with only a eva/ES shield, and rainbowstride boots. SO that's the good news. Ill hit 3k ES easy with my lvl 70 chest.
Using bloodrage now of course...
dps is still only 4500. I don't tnink my 66 claw is even gonna double my dps. So this kind of sucks.
Love the build, and the concept but WTF at the gear you need to get 40k. The claw you need...
Ugh.
Oh well, it'll be very good for 66 maps at least. Gonna farm for currency for good accuracy/phys dmg/resist rings.

And the horrible thing about this too, is the reliance on gear for intell, and strength.
I'm taking +30 strength and a +30 intell nodes mean time, and im STILL in need of strength to equip my chest, and intell to level up discipline to max.

Oh, and running GRACE along with discipline and hatred....how?? . As it is with hatred and discipline, I have 104 mana left. Dropping hatred is out of the question. Logically so is dropping disipline.
And that's with a Q20, lvl15 reduced mana, and Alpha's Howl.

Very very gear reliant build.

edit again: 66 now. 9800dps. need accuracy,phys dmg resist ring/s :(
Edit again, 10.5k!

guess it's all about the claw. I woulda expected 15k or so with my resists and life rings.
Guess I was very used to my DW duelist.

I had a lot of difficulties at the end of act3 on normal mode.
But now i found some gems, it´s a piece of cake even in cruel mode.

I tank every ennemi or boss.
But I wasn ´t able to kill dominicus alone...

I often use fire trap to weaken group of ennemies.
Then i use reave, or double strike for single target.

I also got discipline and vulnerability (with cast when damage taken)

Thanks for the build, it works fine even though i haven ´t all the gems i want.
