If you have a Kaom's in your shop not for sale, you are a dick
So when I go to indexer sites looking for a Kaom's for sale, I usually end up in a "my gear not for sale" in about 2/3rds of the clicks I make.
If you do this, you are not just a dick, but also an idiot. The typical "looking for upgrades" excuse is nice, but let's be honest, unless someone comes up with a version of Tabula Rasa that has 10k life, there's no upgrade. And if you're just trying to direct people to your thread, I'm sorry, but Kaom's Heart is one of those items that you don't put in tabs - if it's for sale, it's going to be located prominently near the top of the thread 99 times out of 100. And if someone is shopping for a Kaom's, they're not likely to stick around after you play the cocktease to see what else you have for sale. I'm just going to stop buying from people who pull this crap, because it is really fucking annoying. So cut that shit out. Throw in buyout tags if you just want to show off your e-peen, but stop wasting everyone's time and screwing up the indexer. It's hard enough to find these without having to wade through the people who for god knows what reason want to show off in the most disruptive, idiotic, annoying way possible. It's funny how many sales they actually lose from it. I talk to plenty of people who will never buy something from a person that has their current gear verified in the thread. I also refuse to buy from people who do this.

" An entirely reasonable position. And for the record? Look at this guy. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/475171 Notice the key thing on his gear? ~b/o 999 ex in the spoiler tag. Basically saying "This is not for sale" to the indexer by marking an impossible price for the gear. If you wanna show off your e-peen, do this. Your e-peen is shown off, and you don't piss everyone around you off. :) Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting! I agree, linking your current gear in your trade thread is a bad habit. And yeah, no clue what people are thinking. It's not like you search the indexer website to upgrade other people's gear.

" Yeah, I am one of those (the ppl who won´t buy in such a shop). It makes me angry - I am always about to throw stuff at my screen and afterwards my PC out the window. Now seriously, as there seems to be no reasonable way to promote your shop (apart from spamming the link in trade and general chat or to name public parties after it, but that is NOT reasonable but annoying) it seems like a pretty efficient way to lure people in your shop. It´s like those electronics retailers who place a 120" screen in their window but if you might ask if it is for sale - "Nope, of course not". Pretty much the same as in Real Life, advertisement sucks. regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!

while I don't agree with the tone the OP used... I agree with what he tries to say.
it's annoying to do this -_- |

Poll: How many people have had somebody approach them with an upgrade for their gear based on what they've linked in their shop?
If it's more than 2, I will be surprised. @Moylin (Beyond)

With you 100% OP. People who do this should have their FS thread locked and be put on probation. I absolutely will not buy from people who do this. Its obnoxious and frankly a little pathetic IMO.

" Except that this isn't a general electronics shop, or supermarket, or Wal-Mart. If you're using an indexer, you're usually looking for something relatively specific. Shopping in an ARPG is fundamentally different; people usually don't do a lot of window shopping. They know what they're looking for. And if what they're looking for is Kaom's Heart, then they know they don't need to spend a lot of time hunting around - it's either prominently displayed or in the "my gear not for sale" section that every fucking stupid cunt has. This is why it's stupid - this false advertisement isn't improving sales. It doesn't invite people to look through your shop. It just pisses them off, and makes it so that a lot of people just straight-up won't buy from you. Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting!
