The secrets/mysteries of RNG cloud and Why you should not ever stop playing after a godly drop. Ep3
" But it is for what we need But, again, we have no idea how the loot/randomness works in PoE, as you said, so no idea the thing is bugged and I hope it will be fucking fixed. Killed Merveil eleven times, not even a unique. Then I don't remember from which chest Facebreaker dropped. i like this game. i mean have you seen how powerful is the barbarian

Ok reboticon, rng is rng yeah
But : It's semi-rng. Would you ever find, a 6L GG uniques ? ( 6L shavronnes, 6L searing touch.. ? 6L Marohi erqi.. ) ? No. WOuld you ever find a chisel on normal difficulty ? No. Why ? Because drops have some "control" Some of that control might be : The promote trading effect. Promote trading effect is = " The thing is, we can abuse that and use that on our favor by calling on the cloud rng and telling it i am the one who will get all the soul takers drop for today! If you are lukcy enough and if you ask the cloud to make the drop drops for you again, instead of giving it your friend, well?? you would have 2 soul takers. You didn't read my link ;)
There is always some "system" behind any RNG. Algorithms are used to attempt to make it random, but it can never really be completely random. Anarchy/Onslaught T shirt

I had to exalteds drop today, does that count?

Droping 2 soul takers in a row is silly that is all.

" Yes, having two soul takers drop n a row would be ridiculous, but anyway.. IGN

I'm seeing a lot of confirmation bias, assumption-making, anecdotal evidence, and lack of actual testing in this thread.
From my experience (and I've been keeping track), getting one good thing is completely unconnected to getting another good thing as far as drops in this game. I occasionally get repeated drops, but that's in the vast minority...and unless I'm farming a boss, I don't get many uniques in a short amount of time - instead, unique drops are rather consistent for me. Likewise, currency follows this trend. This "RNG cloud" is not something I've seen at all (and honestly, as a programmer, I find that concept hilarious). If you honestly believe something along those lines exists...keep track of your drops over weeks and present it as evidence, and maybe that'd convince enough people to do the same that we'd have some statistically significant evidence...but otherwise, you're just trying to ascribe patterns to pseudo-random events. Edit: BTW, if enough evidence was provided to prove something was wrong with the RNG used for loot...it'd probably be a seed issue. The whole "RNG cloud" concept is ridiculous, considering that it'd take a lot of effort to do the same thing that drop tables already accomplish. The most logical way for the RNG to work is to grab a seed based on current time (easiest method, though other methods could be done for slightly more random seeds) on the server and use that instance of the RNG for determining the drop (or potentially only the rarity, as I don't know how many different instances of RNG are used for determining a drop). While I know that pseudorandom number generation isn't perfectly random, it looks that way. There's no way a human could see an actual pattern in the PoE RNG. As humans, we try to shape the observable in our mind to make sense of the unknown, to find the unobservable, but for things we can't comprehend, we only build narratives and our intuition fails.
Watch this. This is a random series: 7840986 Do you see the pattern? There's always an even number after the 8s. When you see an 8, there should be an even number after. Also, 8 is the most common number, 2 out of 7 numbers are 8. Last edited by ionface on Sep 8, 2013, 10:17:26 AM
