Razer Footprints: Poll

Hate it.

I have no problem with the partnership - it's a great thing. I, also, would buy a Razer KB or mouse plastered in Wraeclast art. There's a good spot on my Nostromo to put a logo... [I bought it for that other game, but it's working just fine for this'n and others. *I* would buy more, but YMMV.]

They look fine, though they are far too large to be footprints. The snake idea from Lyralei sounds much better.

Since I am one of those self-found/solo blokes, (Mighty frust... fun,) I will only see them in town, and rarely. I tend to get empty towns.

I hate adverts. Sure, this is just a logo, albeit an unrecognizable one to many - though chatter changes that number, and not a banner or a sand painting on the city plaza, but it is an ad. A logo on the start-up screen, maybe linking to their chat thing would work. Powered by nVidia doesn't mean ATI won't work, and any gamer knows this, so it'd be similar.

I am with Monsta; let us turn off ads. (I'll pay more.) I almost fear this will go the way of cable TV. If you didn't know/are too young, CTV was supposed to be ad-free, since you paid a premium for the cable service. Have you seen an ad-free channel lately/ever? No. Not enough people complained, apparently. :)

It is good to know that Chris is being careful over this, so I am not Chicken Little-ing here. But what stops a Logitech logo rising as the sun every time you go to <place in 3X>? [It kinda looks like a moon eclipsing a sun to me. *shrug*] Then I could see the logo to my left and to my right on screen in Wraeclast. (Nostromo and KB/mouse, respectively.) Heck, put the LG logo in a sand painting and have someone with these footprints do a dance animation during the rising sun and you have the three logos on my desk that are, plausibly, Wraeclast ready.

[See, I can fit those all in, and that is just my meager and cluttered desk. I didn't go to the other room or office, where other logos abound. AT&T as a sun works well. Doesn't Twitter have little birds? as critters in Docks? The new town in A4, Fearnhelm, has banners abound with the Facebook F. And so on.]

Too much imagination and not enough coffee. But you see my point. Also, I'm a happy cynic who realizes in reading the above that he might should have gone into advertising.

Imma go kill something with my mara.

I not only like it, I want to compliment GGG on finding and implementing a cool way to make money. As least, I assume and hope GGG is making some money on this. I went and got one, as much or more to support GGG as I did to have it.
I found them to be a bit unattractive, but I've thought the same of some of the paid microtransactions. I didn't even realize they were logos until after I read the forums today as I've never even heard of the company. I just though they were a new paid effect I hadn't heard about yet.

So to me then, they didn't feel out of place in the setting. I still don't like them aesthetically, but they're small enough that they don't bother me.

I'm actually glad that GGG are doing this. I want this game to succeed, and I'm still not convinced that microtransactions and supporter packs are going to be enough, so if this helps them get more support, I'm all for it. I probably would be worried if I saw coca cola labels and other things like that in the game, but I believe there's a line between what's acceptable and what's not, and this hasn't crossed it (for me at least).
Like.

And you should, too:
1) Razer is about gaming. Let the flame begin when we see Coca-cola footprints.
2) They're optional, free AND exclusive.
3) Additional userbase while still on open beta.

I wouldn't mind also a Razer aura effect for my degen bears.
My wishlist: Hi-res digital artbook
Allow spaces in character names
Vulkan and Linux support
Opensource the game
Count me in as someone who just doesn't care.

In a week this will be a non-issue, this thread will be buried deep many pages back, and whiners will find something new to whine about.

Rinse & repeat.

Could've been subtle. A three-headed snake pet with the same Razer colours would've been classy, tasteful AND fit. Call it one of Maligaro's experiments gone wrong.

Nope, footprints.

That would have increased production cost immensely however.

..and retain player goodwill. Nobody would've objected to a funky pet like that. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk.
Do people actually dislike the idea of advertisments,or they express their fear of a popup-thingie game?

I mean, its not that a pop up comes to my face and tells me what to buy or not, this would be a bad advertisment.

You play games everyday with logos like "NVIDIA" or "ATI" and guess what.Nobitching about it.Its just a graphical intepretation, that will also help the game financialy.Doesnt break the game, doesnt gone stray from the free to play game, doesnt popup anything alike.

More people i see disturbed, and this one is funny actually,is those that had paid for footprints,as them now are soooooo dated and will bitch about it. /sarcasm

Btw everyone saying i hate this it WILL become, not what it IS now, only speculations and not real REASON FOR ANYTHING Dammit
Bye bye desync!

True.
2) Dislike

I'm pretty much on the same page as MonstaMunch, except I don't think the supporter packs should include ad-immunity. It's an opportunity for GGG to introduce a sub for those of us who really would like our game experience ad-free. :)

I don't mind deals requiring you to sign up at another company to download exclusive in-game goodies. However, if the 'goodies' are just actual logos and ads, it seems a bit tacky to me. The fact it's not even GGG but other players that decide when and how much of the ads I'll see boggles my mind. Luckily I solo 100% so I will only encounter it in town and that won't likely annoy me enough to avoid the game.
I dislike the footprint simply because of aesthetic reasons, they're damn ugly. I think all footprint in this game are ugly though.
