Razer Footprints Promotion
i play solo so dont care, and even in groups the visual diarrhea of playing in 4 LL/RF/Sporker group is so incredible that footprints are the least of my concerns
but.. now i see why we have 'ancient graffiti' :) soon to see there 'have you considered upgrading your Windows(tm) version?' slippery slope indeed |

Looks like this subject is splitting up the playerbase.
Maybe you could give us the possibility to replace the texture files of the over-saturated logo to something invisible ? This way players who don't like it just wouldn't see it. (The same would work with the former auras btw) |

To everybody complaining: wtf?
This deal means more money for GGG, which means a better game for us. Nobody is forcing anybody to use this software or the footprints. We should be very happy for every partnetship-deal they manage to get into, as well, their success will only result in more content for us! Ambush IGN: Kvazzminions | EKvazz

I'm all for partnerships and I like Razer, but really... is this the best design you could come up with for "footprints"? This isn't really a footprint, it's a timed graffiti blob appearing beneath your feet.
Couldn't they have added the snake-like symbols only from the logo, writhing around every step until they fade? |
|
" yeah. why do they need micro transactions, when they do ads anyway? this is really horrible. I would like to have my donations back, as i thought they would go into an advertisment-free game. |

Some Guys in TeamSpeak saw that yesterday before the News and we were Quiet curious ...
Not sure if I like this Way of InGame-Marketing here with PoE tough ... hm ... Keep calm, play PoE, drink Tea & listen to Prog!

So the "slippery slope" argument can also be fallacious, in case you didn't know. Every situation has its own variables, and there is often no reason to believe that a change of one type will necessarily lead to other, more severe, cases of the same change. For example, it would be wrong to assume that a vegetarian who decides to eat fish will eventually turn to eating veal.
My problems are with the justifications that Chris has offered us in this particular case: product placement is fine if the logo can be justified within the game world. If this is the criterion we're using, then a partnership with Pepsi would be more than appropriate--their logo looks like a fusion of a life and mana globe separated by a sliver of energy shield. Basically a compressed version of the PoE interface, right? The problem is that a "logo" signifies in exactly the same sense as a word in your native tongue does. We've been exposed to it and have built associations with it over time; it is a hieroglyph, if you will. It wouldn't work as an advertising strategy if it didn't, because there would be no recognition of the brand. There is no difference between the footprint effect and having "Razer" on the walls of Ledge or on the loading screens. If this sort of cosmetic effect is a sound investment for GGG, then very well, but it's disingenuous to present it as part of the aesthetic of the game world. | |
