what is Arc?
serious question

Much-teased lightning skill. We don't know much about it but going by the discussion, it may have something to do with a 'chain lightning' archetype.

Which is awesome.
If arc is really cool, I might consider using that instead of shock nova for my build, but I dont know if its a weapon attack and using shock nova allows me to get in close so I can always have endurance charges up
I expect it to be a casting skill, to close the gap "between" lightning strike (melee) and lightning arrow (bow) ^^

Have you tried shockwave totems? I find these to be much better. Bigger radius, knockback (awesome if you kill with shock nova) and more damage (mainly because more radius). But I guess on lvl 44 everything mows monsters down fast.

What is your dps with shock nova? And without any +aoe nodes is there still a void zone in the middle of shock nova with concentrated effect?

My dps with shock nova was 963.7 at level 44, but that is partly because I am using two (mostly) crappy wands, you can see my gear posted before. There still is a tiny void zone with concentrated effect (that gets bigger if you take aoe passives), but they literally have to be standing right next to you. It might take a bit of practice buts its still very easy to use.

EDIT:
I could use a different skill on my totems, but that would mean I have to cast them more frequently

Azura - level 44 Marauder (caster)

Hi I just made my new character and its one that I have had the most fun playing yet. It has slight drawbacks from needing stat requirements early game, but it is not much of a problem late game

I spend a lot of time on low life, so I have a lot of rarity normally
Skills
  • Haste - aura to increase attack speed
  • Shock Nova - linked with concentrated effect + iron will (main attack)
  • Lightning warp totems (secondary/main attack, I always have these up)
  • Enduring cry - I have 5 endurance charges while fighting
  • Enfeeble - support curse if needed
Playstyle
I cast endurance charges constantly and keep my totems up at all times. At the start of a group of mobs I cast totems which will follow me around so I dont have to cast them too much.
I kite mobs along with my totems, getting in close to shock nova them. If there are blues/rares I will use my curse just in case.
Moltern shell was essential early game before I reached blood magic, but then shock nova begins to surpass it.
I use potions to keep my health higher when I cast my totems, but once they are up I let my health drop a bit lower to get bonus rarity from my unique boots. If I let my endurance charges expire then I will immediately heal because it is too risky to stay low hp without at least 3 charges.
I died one time (due to internet problems on my end, so I disconnected, wasnt dysnc), but before that I was in Hardcore up to level 42.

Couldn't you use Phase Run after casting your totems to make their warps faster?

I do in fact use phase run, but Im not 100% sure it makes it faster yet. At any rate, I am also looking for move speed boots and you may have noticed in my passives I took the one that negates the MS penalty from wearing armour.
So I've been working on a different take on the Wandrauder idea. His name is Captain_Explodiumus

What I've done is, first, obtained any and all health and armor nodes within reasonable reach.

I have, at level 39, 1221 HP, 771 def, 75light 29cold 29fire resist, and I regenerate 36hp/s

As it stands, for practicality sake, most things I fight so far simply can't kill me.

While my damage output is incredibly limited, I've managed to turn it into a gimmick.

What I've done is listened to everyones advice that Discharge is bad, and focused 80% of my build around it.

In an ideal world I would have both Frenzy and Power Siphon linked to Lesser Multiple Projectiles and Life Gain on Hit, except right now its only Frenzy doing multiple shots.

I also wear the unique mask Malachai's Simula to completely sidestep the need for mana without having to go near the Blood Magic Keystone and I've added in Voll's Protector to gain power charges when I crit. Anything else I wear is to allow me to keep my gems leveled and for raw tanking potential.

I spam Enduring Cry and Warlords Mark to ensure a supply of Endurance Charges, and I generally attack with Frenzy for its charges. Whenever the opportunity presents it, I collect a Power Charge with Power Siphon. I also have molten shell ready for another form of defensive spike damage to help whittle down enemies. Threw in Rejuv totem too in order to support parties and further improve my own survival.

I think I'm going to get the multiple totems passive so I can stack Rejuv's and make survival even more trivial.

Phase Run does indeed make the LW totems move faster. It's very handy if you're mainly using them for damage and then want to do something while they're murdering everything.

That being said, until the arrow-stuck-in-model + LW = crash to desktop bug is fixed, LW (and LW totems) is going to be extremely hard to use consistently.

It's too easy to lose maps with LW totems (each crash is another portal used up). I had a level 5X templar pre-wipe that was using mainly LW totems and, while fun, became incredibly frustrating since I couldn't farm anywhere that had archers (and act2 is over half archers).

Chris/Rory should... definitely hear about this? I think replicatible things that cause crash to desktops are supposed to be a high priority fix.

I've talked about it many, many times. Check out the Lightning Warp thread in the beta skill feedback subforum.

It's well known but it's a really tricky bug to fix. The repro is incredibly simple, just spawn some (low damage) LW totems in an area with archers, keep them on your screen, and wait.

EDIT: Also this thread.
