Here is a link to the wrapper I use : https://www.dropbox.com/s/su0vc3nvnp7pc6d/Path%20Of%20Exile.dmg.7z?dl=0

Setup:
-------
1. Unzip, then mount dmg file.
2. Right-click then "Show Package Contents"
3. Open Wineskin.app
4. In configuration tab, change Windows EXE to /Program Files/Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile/PathOfExile.exe.
5. Open Path Of Exile.app. The content will now get downloaded from the internet.
6. Finally, change Windows EXE to /Program Files/Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile/Client.exe.
7. Open Path of Exile.app and the game should start running.

Please let me know if you run into some troubles along the way.

Hello, I'm not great with computer stuff, but I believe I got to step 4. I changed the Windows EXE, but unsure if I just leave it and move onto step 5, or if I have to save the setting somehow, an option I don't see anywhere. I tried to open Path Of Exile.app and nothing happens. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Now i can play PoE on my mac so it's nice... but when when i put the game in fullscreen it gets crashed and says: failed Direct3D resetting device objects.
Any solution for this?
Thanks to all for the support.

For that the "old solution" still works - at least it worked for me:

"Run Path of Exile and let it load all the way to the login screen for the first time. Click the exit button. The game has now written a configuration file that you can edit. Open the file (home folder)/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini in your favorite text editor. Scroll down to the [DISPLAY] section. The critical thing is to set fullscreen=true and enter your monitor's resolution (This prevents an "Failed Resetting Direct3D device objects" error). Also, setting antialiasing off (antialias_mode=0) and disabling post processing (post_processing=false) can help with some gamma issues with certain Wine versions. For example, here is my [DISPLAY] section, which should be fairly standard:

antialias_mode=0
borderless_windowed_fullscreen=false
fullscreen=true
post_processing=false
resolution_height=1080
resolution_width=1920
screen_shake=false
shadow_type=no_shadows
texture_filtering=2
texture_quality=1
vsync=false

Save and close the file, run the game and enjoy."

For the sound problems - there I can`t really help, as the sound worked fine and without problems on my side from the first time on

The bad news is that, I also, have no sound. And that's with the nosound flagged.

@Baroque: This is strange, I have sound on my side, but I tweaked the wrapper some more in order to improve FPS (average 120 now). Did you try removing the --nosound flag? Could you give me your mac model? Also, could you post a picture of your sound settings in POE?

@Azixo: From step 4, the best would probably be to click on 'Test run' after changing the Windows EXE path. The POE installer should run and start downloading content. If this fails, could you paste the log output?

Wow - 120FPS - can you tell me what kind of changes you did additionally on the wrapper? I am still okish most of the time with my FPS but it drops in some areas really low, especially with bigger mobs or many effects...

Ok, so I spoke a bit too fast, it's more like 120 max. It really depends on the zone. Average in hideout is more around 70. It can go down to 15 when I encounter some mobs, but usually it stays around 40 FPS. Since, the last patch, I also have some glitches (black squares and blinking textures). However, it feels fairly playable. I took a video so that can you compare with what you have on your side (https://www.dropbox.com/s/3p3kgbd427zjr5v/run_demo.mp4?dl=1) :)

Anyone else getting fatal map errors in the labyrinth? All I did was click on the entrance and I immediately crashed.

Ok, that video shows a far better graphic setting and far smoother FPS than I have - but hey, I must admit I play on a dam old iMac (though maxed out) so I am happy that I can play this game regardless in a playable way (though I was impressed that I can even play with my old machine Neverwinter Online - though with minimum graphic settings - in a decent way, even if I run with a large party..)...

I have similar results. I also get the missing map textures and random black squares that you had in your video. My average performance is higher (almost never lower than 60fps), but I also get the massive frame time spikes on mob spawn/damage. I get spikes that freeze the game for like 500ms sometimes, which is really rippy on higher difficulties; I would never play hardcore with it like that.

One question: It seems that my mouse is not that responsive - when I wanted to "run around" the mini boss to avoid his hits it was really hard to get my character to react properly on the mouse clicks - is that normal or can I tweek that too?

Try changing from "Lockstep" to "Predictive" in the settings. It increases your chances of desync, but increased the responsiveness for me.
@Licoffe
Got home and saw that the latest patch fixed "no sound" for some users. Downloaded, and that seems to have fixed it. I now have sound. Thanks again for the help. The community, especially in this thread, have always been great.
